I am contemplating a 5.7 swap in a 02 Grand Cherokee with the 4.7HO. I have seen it can be done but just was wondering if anybody here did it? If i do the swap i will get a pcm/engine harness compatible with the motor/trans. I will splice all connections and make it work with the existing harness rather than putting out a grand for one from hot wire. My main concern is what re flashing of the pcm will be needed. Here is a link of one that was done. I know there are a lot of 4.7's out there and I'm surprised i didn't find any of these swaps here. Any info comments are appreciated.

In all seriousness the LS swap is probably more common in those, I dont know how loyal you are (ie, how much more you are willing to spend to keep it mopar) versus just buying one from a few years later that came with a 5.7 hemi

A LS is not going to happen! The looks took a dive after 2004. Even with a LS how are they controlling the motor and trans? Separate controllers? What about the the can buss gauges?

No idea but that must be common stuff with modern engine swapping, I'd do an online search and start asking owners

the issue with that swap is the 16 tooth tone wheel , and the fact that your Jeep is a JTEC PCM , we've changed 4.7s with the 32 tooth tone ring to 5.7s a few times, and have even tuned the 4.7(NGC3&4) pcms to run the 5.7.
If you swap the ECU over to a NGC3(NGC4) you can run the 5.7 on the 4.7 PCM, but as for dash cluster I can not answer that, Might look into swapping a dash cage & cluster from an 05 Jeep in to your 02, I don't know if that's a possibility , I don't know the jeeps that well..

My brother did an 02 Ram a few years back were he took the dash cage, instrument cluster and PCM out of a 2014 , put it in the 02, I know it's apples to Jeep comparison but it might be something to look at( the whole swap from 05 Jeep to 02 jeep)

As for the LS conversion, it's harder than people think, almost everything is a Painless wiring swap...

just a thought might want to contact DIY hemi swap , they might be able to help you
