Hey Guys,
I'm considering buying a 20-23 5.7 Charger that is a factory certified used or a leftover new one. What mods can be done to the 5.7 to increase performance that won't void a factory warranty? How much HP/torque will those mods typically yield?
Thanks!

Not much without voiding the warranty, probably get a few things from the mopar catalog like a mopar cold air intake, or do a muffler delete... might be able to squeeze out 20 HP without hurting the warranty.

Thank you. Do you have an idea of what can be done if it's out of warranty? Not a total rebuild, but basic bolt on stuff, retune, etc.

The sky is the limit. As for bolt on stuff I like a good long tube header, 6.4 intake (needs a little module to activate the active runners), custom tune... should add an easy 50 HP plus add TQ everywhere in the RPM range.
If you don't mind digging a little deeper they respond really well to a cam upgrade, 6.4 cam is great on a budget or aftermarket cam... again the sky is the limit.
Also a fairly easy upgrade is to bolt in an entire 6.4 and sell your 5.7 to cover a big chunk of the cost...

Diablo sport which comes with a mild canned tune, but you can use the device to upload a real tune or even a remote dyno tune. Lots of info on youtube and the specific forums, people been doing it for 10+ years now Thanks I'll check it out! My main goal is to keep it reliable as I need to commute in it. Of course a little more HP is always a good thing!

Sounds like you'd be happy with headers, 6.4 intake and a tune. Should be an easy 50 hp. If you want a more factory type exhaust setup get the 6.4 exhaust manifolds and corresponding mids/cats. Won't give you any fits for emissions etc. Guys get 6.4 numbers out of them with the addition of a cam, something like the FRP Tomahawk is a really popular choice, it's about the biggest you can go with stock pistons (225/235 @ .050, 113 LSA?). He also sells a Mark82 which is abit milder (220/230 @ .050, also 113 LSA I believe). The nice thing about the factory 6.4 manifolds and mids is that it might not set any alarm bells off re: warranty work

a good tune is worth 25=30 Hp alone, a cold air Intake helps carry that 25-30 hp up to 40...CAI by it's self is only worth 5-10 depending on local altitude. For the slightly daring there's the SRT392 cam swap, cam alone is about 20hp, good tune can get you another 25 on top of that, For the more daring MMX has a cam that works with the MDS system, does NOT require a tune...but a tune only helps, SKU# MM-NTR-NSR-MDS cam only is $620 , it's a straight up 25-30hp gain, they do not publish lift/dur#s for the cam, but I will say it's DAM close to the SRT392 cam. My brother-in laws shop did one early July, the customer bought the Challenger on Saturday drove it 30 mile to the shop, dropped it off , we dynoed it, did the MMX swap tossed it on the dyno 32lbs TQ and 25hp gain, I worked the tune and got another 15/20 out of it for a gain of 47/45 over stock...added S&B JLT cold air intake and added found another 10 on HP , tq didn't change enough notice For the ULTRA daring,...Summits part 5723 is a NSR cam (no springs required) not designed to work with the MDS system so that has to go and it's a STRAIGHT up 50/50 gain, with a mild tune, and another 15/20 with a good tune......YES 70 over stock .. really doesn't fit you want for now..... I'd go MMX's NTR,NSR cam if I wanted to keep warranty
