A long time ago I ran across a Flickr account that had 1000's of old photos, many of them from the 60's & 70's in the NYC, CT & adjacent areas. If you have time it's definitely worth scrolling through his many albums that also have lots of old cars. beer

You ain't kidding, it's why my mother convinced my father we needed to leave NYC back in the early 70's. Funny thing now is that most of the neighborhoods that were really bad are now unaffordable.

I used to commute from Staten Island to Manhattan every day for high school. That's one of the Staten Island Ferry terminal parking lots. The Verrazzano Bridge is in the background.
