The 64 is coming along. Will finish up the quarter panels this week. Hopefully I’ll have the rest of the body work done and it’ll be ready for paint next month.

I'm building a 1965 Dart 270 for some local here in the northwest 1/8 heads up no breakout racing, B1 motor and possibly some NOS to help it luck
I should have had it finish 3 yrs. ago but I got screw by a local Fiberglas, Kevlar, carbon fiber airplane parts maker on a one piece lightweight front with a lift off hood, deck lid doors front and rear bumper rant
I hate liars and thief's puke hammer devil

I have always had B body’s but always liked the early As. I’m building this one for me as a driver. Putting a 46RE behind the Hemi and a Ford 9 Inch with a 3.25 gear. Should be a great highway cruiser. I’ll keep giving updates as I progress with the build. The plan is to drive it from East Tennessee to Reno for the 2025 Hot August Nites. Did that twice back in the 90s with my 69 Six Pack Supper Bee. Those two trips were from Detroit.

The Dart is slowly get there. Needs a little more body work before final primer coat. Installing RMS Street Lynx tomorrow. Waiting for the rear end carrier to be delivered. Speedway says it’s on back order.

Installed radiator and fabricated a cold air box for the cold air induction. Can’t get into paint shop until late September or October. Going to the savage yard tomorrow to look for seats, so I can get them installed then fabricate the counsel.

Hit a small road block on the Dart today. Tried to install engine on RMS k-member with the steering rack installed. Wouldn’t go on. The rack was hitting the oil pan and wouldn’t allow the engine to set on the mounts. I have a Holley cast oil pan. Called Bill at RMS to discuss problem with him. He told me the Holley pan will not work in an A body Gen III conversion, I need a Miladon 31000 pan. So the moral of my story is if you’re going to stuff a Gen III in a A body don’t buy the Holley oil pan.

No one likes to learn lessons the hard way, but I suspect you knew you were going to run into a few going into this project.
I happen to be a fan of the Early-A bodies and appreciate you sharing the bad and ugly, but you're gonna have really cool ride at the end of this journey.

I was not aware RMS was offering any IFS for the Early A's, is this a one off/custom offering?

No they have had them, they just weren’t listed on their web page. They are listed there now. I’m also using their Street Lynx rear suspension.

Thanks, I'm not a fan of triangulated 4 links and I will it at that. It does look nice. The whole project looks nice. up

Ran into another glitch this morning on the Dart build. The 16 x 8 4.5 back space I was planing on using won’t fit on the front. The steering link hits the rim. Everything else cleared just fine. These rims have been sitting in the shop for the past five year. I knew it was a long shot for them to work on the front but figured I’d give it a try anyway. I bit the bullet and ordered a new set of rims. 18 x 8 4.5 back space.

man, that's too bad.
way many more times than i can count, [or remember for that matter...... laugh2] i have done, or had to do, the same thing !
i guess that's what's supposed to happen when "stuff" gets accumulated for a project over a [sometimes long] period of time.
or you order something when it gets time for installation, only finding out after the "item" gets installed, you "uncover" the same item you already had, waiting on the shelf for the proper time to be used.......... panic punkrocka

Are you going to be road racing this car at sport cars races or slalom or autocross?

No let’s being built to be a driver. Plan is to road trip it from East Tennessee to Reno next summer for Hot August Nites. Plus my daily driver 55 Dodge pickup is getting high on mileage so this will probably become my daily driver when it’s finished. With the 5.7, 46re transmission and 3.25 gear out back it should be great cruser. I’m hopping for 75 mph at 2000 rpm.
