Hopefully they have it running better than this one. The car could barely do a burnout and looked like a slug going down the track.

You can thank the government and the EPA for doing it to them.

The first problem is that they quit building cheap economy cars like the Dart, without an economy car their CAFE numbers were never going to be met.

Other make have economy cars and that's what's saving them somewhat.

Their mistake was thinking that Chrysler product buyers were ever going to buy a Fiat or any other small car for fuel economy. twocents

We have a 19 3.6 regular cab short bed at work. We use it to run small battery orders out to customers. It might have 50 or 1000lbs in the bed depending on the delivery. I got in it the other day to move it and rolled through the menus and its average MPG was 24.5 which really surprised me.

You know if they could Dodge would still be using the Hemi but regulations prevent it.

IMO the safer bet would have been to make an all new gen 4 hemi, 5.2-5.5L, sell a 420hp NA version for regular trucks and cars, then have a few turbo boosted versions. Sending out a 3.0L I6 that is boosted to the moon might come back to bite them in the heiny

It currently only powers one vehicle. Is it crap? How do we know? It hasn't been around long enough to have any data. I can say we've been towing with this engine in a Ram 1500 4x4 and it pulls a 24 ft enclosed with ease. I like the old stuff as well as anyone. The ram RHO has been said to run 13.1@105. Plenty of hot rod cars here that are slower. As a racer I'd love to see coroperate $ help. But why did that ever happen in the first place? To sell product. Face it this is business. The Chinese are coming. If you want to stay competitive you have to have a smart business plan.

Doug I respect your opinions a great deal, and I know what you're saying, but Ford and GM are still selling V8s similar to what they have been for the last 20+ years.

People genuinely loved what Chrysler has done for the last decade plus with the 392 and Hellcat engines and packages available on the LX platform. They regained a reputation similar to the one they held in the 60s and 70s. Chrysler was cool again, they finally stopped selling fleet vehicles. Not only were they cool they became Detroit's bad boy automaker. Thats over now.

This looks and feels like Lee Iococa's K car 80s and 90s Chrysler all over again. Chrysler didn't sell hotrods in the 80s or 90s, and sadly we're back there. And before someone tries to claim them as something they're not, Turbo 4 banger K cars aren't hotrods, neither was a Viper, a Prowler, or a souped up Neon. And neither is this.

No offense to any of those cars either, some are fast and some are cool (some are neither like the Prowler), but they aren't hotrods.

Not sure about other manufacturers. But Stelantis will not purchase emissions credits. So you can only sell so many low fuel economy polluters. If you want to stay in business selling your highest profit margin vehicles (trucks). Then you have to play by the governments rules. There aren't enough if us voting in canidateswith the mind set we believe in. At the rate it's going it's only going to get tougher.
