Well, I don't get out much, and all my junk needs work to get it running....So I borrowed my engine builders 69 Dart I affectionately call crusty...Its like barn find fresh....Well, we wore out the old 512 from 2010, and it has a fresh 440 in it. Nothing fancy, and it went a 7.24 off the trailer at 99.7mph...Never got another pass due to rain, but for a legal tagged street car with mufflers I was delighted it went that fast.

The ram air would not fit with the new intake and adapter, so there is another tenth in it when we get that fixed....It certainly misses the big engine, but was quicker than my prediction.

Traction, or the lack of, can be the key to quickness and going fast, spinning ain't winning grin

Looks great. Perpetual barn freshness is not a bad place to be!

Cool Dart - same colors as one I had many years ago (just a 318/904 Western Sport Spl, but it was a sweetheart).
Sounds like a pretty strong run for a mild 440, what's the car weigh ?
That hood looks like plenty of ram-air to me, and the mini-tubs or full tubs are a good idea on that body style.

It has Mini tubs, and weight I cannot remember, but it was heavy for an A-body. I think it was almost 3300lbs if I recall. There is more in it. I didn't even check the timing or the plugs. It was slow off the line, so I am sure a little more timing will help greatly.

MPH will give a better picture of how good the engine is, 99 sounds good. We were going 6.78 @108 .030 over 440 in a good 68 dart chassis and converter, big slicks. Most of the 440s we slapped together in a-bodies ran in that area 7.0 to 7.30 depending on weight.

I was tickled it ran that well. The brakes need a big looking at for sure, but I think with some tinkering, low 7's are possible. I have a Duster that traps 115mph in the 1/8th, and that is scary to get it stopped at this track. Much prefer the slower car at this track.
