Which I immediately named Granny Smith, though Val Killme also gets good reactions. '68 Valiant Signet, fairly mild 340/904, seems 3500+ stall, Ford 9" I changed to 4.11s. "Before" is with steelies, fabbed valve covers, bench seats. "In process" is with the shiny wheels, heater delete, better carb & intake. Still a fair amount to do - going through brakes, interior, suspension, adding subframe ties - but people seem to like the little green box. Hoping for low 13s/upper 12s - nothing special, just not a slug.

Wow, thats GREEN
But I like it.
Years ago at Carlisle . We were sitting in the hotel parking lot and heard something wicked coming around the bldg. After a few seconds what pulls around is a dark green 67-69 valiant similar to this. But more like an F8 green I think. And I will say it sounded healthy and damn fast . And Ive thought ever since they make for a very unassuming streetcar

Hey, Bill - Yeah, the PO wanted it to be '69 1/2 Rallye/Spring Green instead of the light metallic green it was when new. The thing should have been on the track by now, but I want it to be presentable and run decently for the combo. Buttoned up rear suspension yesterday; waiting on some brake stuff & carpet. Somewhere in there it gets a RMVB, line-loc, and then...more work, but it's getting there...
BTW, I like that cling idea of yours - but in this case, the # & class. That beats shoe polish or permanent window #s, I think.

Yeah, Neil, not a common body, though there are a couple that run at Firebird. Frankly, I'm more of a Duster or A-Barracuda guy for the task at hand, but this one was a pretty good deal. I set a budget for the project, and so far, I'm not in it much more than I had set aside for the project. I'll update if anyone's interested, as it gets completed.

That’s a neat car, if you race the Halloween classic we will see you there, we go multiple times a yr but that one we love and won’t miss. Great fun, we have a stable of mopars in the lower pits against the hill.

It's also Our Lady Of Unintended Consequences, or Little Princess Mission-Creep... It's the little things: drum brake MC on an all-disc car, the rear rotors blued from dragging, the fronts not as bad but definitely dragging. Versailles rearend the PO put in it - guess he HAD to have "cheap" rear discs - has turned into a complete re-do of the pumpkin, gears and a different set of brakes. (And learning more than I ever wanted to know about the Versailles 9" rear axle...) Had to fab a rear shock crossmember, and removed the 2.5" tailpipes & bologna tips, relocated the battery so its weight is useful. Heavy bench seats turned into fabbing adapter brackets for some light Honda front buckets and fresh carpet. And it now smells a lot better ! One mismatched valve adjuster brought the hydraulic lifter pre-load into question, and for bonus points, the aftermarket balancer markings aren't legible. Some knucklehead mounted the tach through the bottom left dash pad, instead of any one of a few better & less-damaging places. Still to come are PS-to-manual steering box swap, and lighter torsion bars, after which the goofy wheel alignment will get corrected. But we're turning it into something decent, I think.
