I need to do cam and lifters in my 2011 5.7 4X4. Is there ample room to do it in vehicle, or is it a lot easier to have the engine removed to do the work? I've asked this question on other forums and I got no answers. It seems like a pretty easy, straight forward question.

I can't tell you which would be better but there are several YouTube videos on engine removal on your truck.

There are also cam change videos.

After watching both you may be able to form an opinion of the best way for you to go.

Good luck!

If you want to keep the moto clean while it is being work on changing the cam, think about where you're going to tear the motor down and then decide if it is better worked on in the truck or do it in a room that can be kept clean while it is apart and keep dust and bugs getting in the oil work scope up

My opinion- engine out is always better, but in your application, it can easily be done in frame. Hows your back?.........

I would do in truck. It's a straight forth job. Remove inter fender well shields. And be ready for some broken exhaust manifolds bolts.
Good Luck
