I like it, sometimes subtle mods are the best imo.

As you know only too well not everything is always as it appears. It might flow a bit and it is one of two OEM Pontiac formula hood scoops so must have done something at one time
BUT it's really not there for air flow it is there for air cleaner clearance. The '56 has the Dakota front frame clip with a Z'ed frame at the join and that lowers the body but the Dakota clip stays at stock height.
The fuel injected 318 motor mounts had to be moved rearward which also required raising the engine a bit. Al the things contributed to the hood hitting the air cleaner. Thanks for asking.

The scoop looks good. Finding/making a scoop that doesn't look out of place on most of the 50s cars can be a real challenge. I ran into a similar clearance issue when I decided I HAD to run Tri-Power on my 57 Plymouth. I lowered the air cleaner as much as possible but still needed about 1/2" more clearance. It took me about 3 days to work up the courage to cut the hood LOL.

It never ends, I'm currently trying to get the intake/carbs/aircleaner low enough to use a stock hood on my Valiant project.......just because it was sooooo much "fun" to do on the 57. At least 68 Valiant hoods are easier to find the 57 Plymouth hoods were.

Thanks Mike.
All I really needed was a hood bulge, but living in "Resume speed" wilderness made it hard to find (or make) one that would work. But I had the scoops.
