Had it done Tuesday pretty sore, very high BP, 190/96/ 96 rate, down now, muscles around chest-stomach-sides very sore like cracked ribs, cramps in left calf. Popping oxy for pain, what’s your experience? How long till you felt better?

Depends on how the surgery was done . I've had it on both shoulders. Was off pain meds within 4 days. I was religious with the PT and still do most of the movements and stretches to this day. The first surgery was in 1998 and the other shoulder in 2002. I don't have any issues. My surgery was arthroscopic, my son had an open procedure and he still has some issues.
Best of luck and hope you have a recovery.

Ok

I haven't had rotator cuff surgery, but did have SLAP (Superior Labrum, Anterior to Posterior) repair on one of my shoulders.
As said, do your physical therapy! Some of it is somewhere between uncomfortable and painful. Do it anyway. There's a fairly short window to get your range of motion back. Don't miss it.
Your high blood pressure is likely related to your pain level. I'm not saying to ignore it, just understand the cause. Slow, deep breathing will help.
Oh yeah...your surgeon likely had to do some "wrenching" on you to get into the middle of your shoulder, hence the pain in odd places.
I'm sure you'll recover quickly, and you'll be glad you had it done.

Doc says to me, "You know, it's very rare to tear both you rotator cuff and Labrum at the same time..." I said, "No, I didn't. I assume you're telling me this because I managed to do it?" Yep. probably falling on ice 2 days in a row and catching myself on my elbow, and damaged one each time.

I had arthroscopic repair of both the Wednesday before Labor Day in 2019. Big thing was I asked the doc what the biggest thing I could do pre-op to make recovery earlier. She said range of motion. I worked to maintain it prior to surgery, even though it was painful. I was pushing myself to have range and flexibility as soon as I could after, too, making sure I stopped if I had any hint of pain. It paid off, and I was cut loose from PT on New Year's Eve. Hasn't given me ANY problems since then.

Biggest problem I had was I bit my tongue BAD when I was coming out of anesthesia, and when I came around and couldn't talk normally, I thought I'd had a stroke...

I guess Docs think theres a standard procedure for injuries, glad you made it through ok but that’s still a long time to get back!

My wife had it done back in March. Late day two was the worst for her. That is when the nerve block wore off. The next day she started to feel better. Slow recovery after that. She used the pain meds for a couple of weeks. She has almost full mobility now, Hopefully you have one of those recirculating ice packs.
Good luck on your recovery.

Thanks, pain-soreness is easing up now. I have the right shoulder to do next, then both knees MAYBE!

i haven't had the rotator cuff done yet, but it seems likely i'm heading there.
however, i did get a new hip [2 years ago] and knee [december 11 last year]. the doc i used knew his stuff, and both went well. [funny story, i worked with two of his great, great uncles, one of his uncles, and his great, great grandfather, during my machinist career.]
he gave me the devil, because in both cases, i waited until i couldn't walk before i got them replaced. this required way more work on his part to get me fixed up. [i always like to get my money's worth out of parts before they are replaced. biggrin]
anyway, the required therapy is a MUST, and make SURE a person follows it to the letter for the best results. doing extra helps, and continuing the exercises after the healing process is over, really helps one's life quality.
on the rotator cuff deal, my best friend had one done, [of COURSE waiting until he couldn't do anything.......... laugh2] and even though the surgery was a success and he followed the therapy to the letter, he still has slight pain and not much range of motion.
he is a real blur of energy, and being a "farm boy", always has been that way.
of course us being "seasoned citizens", [70's for me, and him being over 80] may explain some of our "life's travails"........... laugh2

Had the right shoulder done in 2017. Got a lot of relief from my ice machine. Took the painkillers for a couple days and then switched to otc stuff. Never came back all the way but it wasn't too bad. twocents

Well, my wife has had her left shoulder done 3x now - first surgery went bad in a week - one of the anchors came out, so it was re-done. Then the RC went bad again, so a different surgeon did that - 3rd surgery. She can't raise her arm more than halfway, & doc said the only thing left to do is a reverse replacement now. I don't have faith in a successful repair now. Wife is leaning toward getting the reverse repl. though.

Good luck getting healthy and fully recovering Mike. As everyone knows, following orders for PT is the main thing. You need to get healthy so you can get that duster on the track !

Thankyou, I’ll follow his orders, 4 days now and I’m biting at the bit lol. I’m concerned about the anchors coming loose like the one poster wrote, I have 5 of them!
BTW got the split mono springs on, moving along but slowly.

Did they put your arm in a brace holding it up?
I had mine done several years back before 2003 and had my left arm in a big brace holding it up for several weeks, not good shruggy

No, just an elaborate sling with a pillow against my side for now. Predisone and Oxy work great together, no pain and I can sleep laying down now, better than taking Tylenol, which the docs-hospital push like hell. Two friends had taken a lot, one died from kidney failure and the other recently got a new one after waiting 3 years. I’ll pass on that!
