is anyone getting their home internet from a cell provider? IF so,
1. Which provider?
2. Are you happy with the service?
3. what's the cost?
4. Is it bundled with your cell which I don't have at this time. the wife has Consumer cellular but they're not offering anything yet.

I'm asking as due to my location I'm stuck with one source at ~45.00 a month and ~ 35-40 MBPS.the speed is adequate for my needs but I feel its just a matter of time before the landline services go the way of 8 tracks. I also have a LL phone through the provider, also about 45.00 a month
I do like that I am locked at the price but some of their other billing tactics are beginning to irritate me wink beer

Really interested to read the replies as I have a landline provider with embarrassingly low mbps blush service with high costs and they turned the service a couple of years ago to someone else. I spoke with them this past Friday as they are bombarding me with ads on fiberoptic service and when I inquired for the past year about it they tell me it's not available at my location and may not be for another year or so? mad So I just checked on AT&T internet via cell towers at 75-225 mbps service at $55 month auto pay or $60 monthly. Going to watch your thread to see the replies. Thanks for asking the question.

Mike

I use Verizon 5G home internet locked in at $25/month for 10 yrs. We also use them for our phones...so 2 brand new Samsung phones both with unlimited data and internet at $130/month. We've had the internet for over a year with zero issues. Not sure on speed(never did a speed test) but as I type this the wife is next to me streaming some video on her laptop, the TV is on streaming something else and still plenty fast. Last I checked I had about 15 devices connected to my router...zero issues at all. Rock solid during a couple storms that took out the local cable service also.

my situation is kind of strange. i have everything bundled through X-finity [Comcast]. it's the only option available here, unless you go with a dish service, which i tried once with absolutely AWFUL results ! mad [which is another story in itself....]
it is expensive - $298.00 per month.
now with that said, it is that way because of my wife. and no, i'm not complaining about her........we have been happily married 44 years this coming july, and have been with each other for 45 years.
she is loosing her memory now, but before that, she always liked to watch tv. now, more than ever, going through what she is.
with that said, my package contains almost ALL the premium movie channels [because she just HATES commercials !] and of course those add up !
it also contains my land line, internet and unlimited cell stuff, like texts [which i still haven't figured out how to do laugh2] the google, and all the other crap that is on phones these days, plus the newest 5G phone out there [which is another thing i haven't been able to figure out.... spank]
it is what it is, and i know i could do better, but having everything together makes it much simpler for me, as there are WAY too many things [health issues included] occupying my old cobweb filled noggin these days.

Verizon customer here too. The speed is acceptable since I am a single occupant household. Average about 65Mbs and combined with my phone I pay $104 per month. I sometimes have to reboot the router but otherwise has been reliable. My only alternative was satellite which is way more expensive and has a ton of latency. Also, Verizon hasn't throttled me to my knowledge.

Sorry to hear about your wife and your health issues đŸ˜„ I will have been married for 43 years on 7-11 of this year. My life would be meaningless without her. She hates change of any kind which has been good for me. I'vebeen trying to wean her off direct TV for some time but with limited success. I have an Amz Prime account which comes with a lot of commercial free shows and movies. Also have HULU which offers commercial free fofr an additional 7-10.00 đŸ»

I had the same up till about two years ago. I started to look around for faster options. Crapcast is out of the question, Cant stand them! It is available but I'm not paying their high prices. Verizon 5G home internet not available here but Fios is. Didn't like the idea of them having to come out and "wire" up my house for a additional fee. And from what i read is slower than most other fiber optic systems. Just about the only provider i could find was T mobile. You seen the commercials for the 5G internet for $50 a month. Well that's if there is not to many other uses in your area. Then it's not available but you can get a limited plan depending on your needs. I pay $50 but forget the cap, It's well within my usage so I'm happy.

thanks to all tat responded up . I need time to do a bit more research but verizon seems to have a better reputation. I do believe the satellite technology will eventually overtake landlines and likely fiber. beer

I doubt that because the lag from uploading to downloading is long and speed is not all that great. From what i read about it it's good for somebody out in the sticks with no other options. 5G cell phone is in place all that is needed is more towers to provide coverage.

I just changed to TMobile. My farm near the Ohio river has a “mountain “ behind it. I have their home internet unit coming so I can see if I get good reception. No tv reception and Verizon worked well. ATT not so much.

My Office had Verizon Mifi units for the patrol cars and they worked well. Could stream off them and did well. I bought Verizon home unit and it did well at home. No hard line internet at the time.

TMobile internet is for businesses only, and limited in any given region to ensure their usage wasn’t overloaded. I was able to fast talk it was for my tree farm. The rep just wanted to ensure the boxes were checked. Will let you know the results.

I’ve been with Verizon for over 20 years, was only option. Just cell phones and I pads (4) price was up over $250 a month for 8 gigabytes and I ran over every month at $15 for each gig over. A friend has Consumer cellular (25 miles away in town) one phone with unlimited internet cost him $40 a month. SO I called Verizon and raised hell, told them if they couldn’t do as good I’m gone, we’ll he got it down to $130 with unlimited internet (it pays to [censored], my wife got a new I phone 12 for nothing because he messed up sale on card). So far so good. Remember the salesperson can give most any deal to get your service but calling the main place gets better deals. Now at nite till 4:00 in the morning I have all the bars at top, by 7:00 it’s down to one, very slow loading, after 10:00 it goes up (a tower only in area) our cable company provide s service but over $300 each with all the other stuff so in our area is very limited.

My best friend has it in the “middle of nowhere”, I laughed at him. Then I stayed there for a week, super fast and he says weather never effects it like his old dish provider.

Edit : Starlink satellite

the “middle of nowhere”

Well there are limited amount of uses so i can see speeds being fast. A tower in a populated area everyone is using it so speeds go down.

Just received and setup Verizon home internet.
I'm not turning off my Spectrum land line yet.
I'll let you know how it goes in 30 days.
If it works out it will save me $30/month.

My cell service is T-Mobile, they don't have 5G in my area, but Verizon does.
I set my mom up with T-Mobile internet, 4 months and no issues.

We used to have Verizon land lines, we had 3 lines, a home phone, internet, and a business phone. Then Frontier bought them out in our area. Seemed every month, the land lines went up. Wife got on my son's US Cellular friends and family plan and our home phone line went away, but we kept the internet ($49/month) and my business phone land line (started at $40 a month). When the business land line hit $100/month, it was gone too. My son worked a deal with a business phone service plan through US Cellular using my business phone. We got up to 10 lines under the one plan, where each phone could be set up however the person wanted it. Everyone could get a new phone every 2 years. We started with 4 lines. We now have something like 8 lines (my son takes care of it. we each pay him for our part and he covers it all). My wife has unlimited phone, internet, and text on her new high gadget phone, and I have a flip phone with call and text (the lowest cost line of the bunch), and our combined share is $92/ month, tax and fees included. The land line internet is somewhere around $60/month now. Our TV is antenna with around 40 channels here, and we have a one time purchase Roku on the TV to keep my wife happy. We don't do movies on TV. Internet options around here are pretty limited. If I knew how to do it, we could probably run our home internet through a US Cellular line, but I'm not sure if that would cost more or less then we are spending right now. Frontier isn't any where near as good as Verizon was, but we are the last connection on this communication line, and its still not fiber optic and likely won't ever be. Because there were 3 physical lines coming into our house, that internet service has been switched to the 3rd one now, because the other 2 have failed over the years.
