After 60 years of having at least one Mopar daily driver I had to go elsewhere. Wife and I are both retired now and she is talking cross country trips. With both of us suffering back trouble we couldn't find a Mopar that was comfortable enough. We now own a Cadillac SRX suv. Like riding in a lounge chair. We still have her 2017Jeep Cherokee so we aren't completely Mopar free but it's not her daily driver anymore. whistling

I'll agree with that. On the plus side, you might become close friends with the GM service writer and his family

That is the same platform as the Equinox. We have one here now and when you compare the Equinox and SRX to what Dodge is offering, it is easy to see why 'the dark side' won you over. Besides Dodge doesn't have a direct competitor to that platform.

The Equinox has been a solid and reliable vehicle for our customers. A neighbor has had 3 of them as his primary sales transportation and has gotten over 200k on each with minimum issues.

Hey, "stuff happens"...

Only reason my current daily is a 2019 Ford Escape - 2.5L non-turbo - is every late-teens Cherokee I looked at was making a racket in its valvetrain, and I'm not into going through that repair.
I haven't bonded with the thing like I did my old Pathfinder or my Breeze, though; so far it's just a tool.

Well it would be really tough for me to go with some other than a Mopar, but you give some good reasons why you did and you should be comfortable. I hope it works out for you up

This is good hear. I bought a '20 Equinox last year off of my father-in-law. It was an off lease with 18k miles. Haven't had it long, but it's been trouble free. 1.5L turbo is surprisingly quick. Only bad things I can say about it is I don't like how it bitches with the safety equipment and nag messages constantly, but you get this with any newer model car.

Brand loyalty to classics is fun. Brand loyalty to new daily drivers is silly.

Nothing wrong with that buy what you want and enjoy it . My daily driver is a 16 Honda HRV / AWD 84,000 miles all I have done is regular oil changes, replaced two tires , a battery and did all four brakes once . My wife drives a 23 Audi Q5 but I still have three Mopars : 21 1500, quad cab , Hemi , 4X4 ( 3 years old has 10,000 miles ) original owner 92 D150 regular cab / short bed 2WD and my 68 Dart race car I have owned for 42 years.

The neighbor's had the old inline engine and then the V-6 engine in his, not the 1.5 turbo. We have that 1.5 turbo in a Malibu. It does okay, but has that inherent surge that GM says is normal. We have a statement from GM on their letterhead regarding this condition because it is so prevalent. But even still, some customers are not comfortable with it. I am not sure we will buy any more of them due to that issue.

Since my Mother passed, my daily has been her 2015 Corolla that she bought new. Has roughly 68K miles on it. She always had it serviced at the dealership she bought it from. Only thing outside of regular maintenance it needed was a windshield (caught someone's lug nut at 70 MPH). AC and 30 MPG is hard to beat. I still have my Dakota, but hardly drive it anymore.

Those Cadillac SRX are comfortable. They are also easy to enter and exit. The one I was in was a nice ride, even though I was on the back seat.

I can't comment on reliability or anything else about a newer Cadillac. The only newer Caddy that is of interest to me is the CTS-V. I don't like them enough to pay for one though!

Good luck with the new ride!

Congrats on finding something you like and is comfy for you. Much as I love my "old" mopars . . . Stellantis is "just another" manufacturer of vehicles . . . no better or worse compared to others. Hate to say it, but it's not 1970 anymore . . . once there was not something from Mopar, for my company vehicle, I ended up in GMC Canyon . . now on 2nd one (2022 - so still V6) . . . been ok for me . . .

Cheers,

M
