Building a low deck 512 stroker and the front cam bearing from the donor block did not have a full groove, it was a plain bearing.
My new cam bearing set has a full groove front cam bearing.
It appears that all of the aftermarket cam bearing sets have a grooved front bearing now.
In line with the thinking of grooved and half grooved mains, and knowing a flat bearing has more surface area to carry load, why are the front cam bearings grooved now?
They carry the loads transferred from the timing chain and also from driving the oil pump.
Has the plain bearing proven faulty for some reason on the front of the RB/B blocks?
Search function did not find much about grooved front cam bearings.

I prefer the groove versus non grooves, more oil on the timing chain can't hurt work up
