I thought I would provide a warning about a pair of 70 hemi carbs on Ebay. The are not original, and they are restamped date codes and one is not even a real hemi carb. Same goes for a lot of the chokes I see being sold as Hemi or Hemi reproduction. They are more like replicas.

Hemi carb parts have specific casting numbers and tops that are unique to hemi. Some are very similar but not original. There are also usually part number stamps on the cast parts. Also, very specific months the carbs were made. Not every month.

Just beware and worth asking informed folks. Unfortunately, even some of the parts sellers are misrepresenting what they sell.

Thanks for the heads-up, though my Hemi days have passed and aren't likely to return.
Might not hurt to name names, as re-stamping those carbs is likely an intent to deceive.
Or, report the seller to Feebay, and maybe they care enough to deal with the person.

I sent note to seller who stated he got them from a reputable non mopar restorer off real hemi car. He said he was going to take them to a mopar shop. He may have been fleezed too.

Hemi carbs is my nitch. At first it looked like a good price for a 70 set, but they are really bad with welded up extra holes, wrong parts galore. And a difference bottom body for the front carb. Either Pontiac or Cad, which is totally wrong for venturi throat and size for a hemi. Some one really got taken at some point.

I always have a hard time ID hemi carbs. Is there a quick way or certain item to spot when looking at carbs at swap meets or online?

The throttle levers are unique, but you really need to know the details too and numbers. Plenty of carbs have been modified over the years or pieced together when prices rose.

Time to find someone with known actual hemi carbs and get the casting numbers off of them. That has always worked for me when buying 55 thru whenever Corvette carbs. Whether it's a WCFB or an AFB, they all have identifying numbers on the individual castings. No doubt someone in the Mopar camp already has that information. Me, I carry a printout whenever I'm going to a swap meet or wherever so I don't buy bogus carbs. Here's my example.

July 19th should be "Drive Like Rockford Day". R.I.P. Jimmie.

I have the numbers also, but like others have said there have been some people modifying carb bodies.
