On an a-body 340 engine, without installing the engine and trans (next month maybe) I need to know if that centerline follows inline with say the rocker panels? Is this shown in the service manual? I’m trying to set the pinion angle on the Dana with CT split monos. Or just weld perch’s the same as stock (5* up). Springs are stock ride height. I want pinion same degree as crank under power.

The driveline CL is parallel to the chassis CL, front of crank to rear u joint, or should be, and is offset to the right 1 3/16' or 1 1/4" depending on who you ask.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

The offset depends on the body platform. Early A body is different than later A body. Later A body is 1.25 offset so pinion needs be offset 1.25 also. Race car guys usually put a Ford 9 inch in the center of the car since it looks better and the offset is almost right for a Mopar. I can't remember on a Dana 60 if the housing ends up in the center or not. It is close.

It is not centered with a Dana 60.

The passenger side axles are a bunch shorter than the drivers side axles on all stock Mopar Dana 60 applications regardless of year or body style scope Dang them Mopar engineers anyways grin whistling

Moving the motor over to the passenger side of the car helps traction on that side also work up
More traction is way better than a tiny bit too little, huh grin
Mopar engineers move the motors over to the passenger side to give the drivers more foot room work up

Stock floors and driveshaft tunnel, you aren't going to get the engine/driveline in the center.

My old junker has 1 inch of offset to the right. Has/had stock floor and driveshaft tunnel.

Offset varies depending on the year, make and model.
