Seems like that might be a little hard on my kitchen floor, cabinets, fridge, drywall...

Acceptable collateral damage? hammer

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

So I have battled this for the past several years in a couple of my out building near farm fields. I have experimented with basically all of it.

I have found the best system to be the PVC home made bait stations placed around the exterior of the property, coupled with bait stations and regular mouse traps in the building to be the most effective.

The outside stations take care of them before they get in the building. I rarely catch one now or see evidence of them eating the bait inside. It is in my opinion a year round deal. Keep the bait stations outside full and try to keep the population down, even in the summer months. YMMV.

I've tried lots of stuff, but the best solution (for me) so far has been Grampa Gus peppermint pouches and bleach. For some reason those little buggers love my dually. Winter or summer they get in it...I don't drive it in the winter and at least weekly in the summer but constantly see signs they have been there. I leave snap traps, Bait and Grampa Gus pouches in there but if I do not routinely pour bleach around the perimeter of where it is parked they come back. I also bleach around my enclosed trailers. I got this idea from watching a Documentary on rodents. I learned they are "Scent Hunters" meaning they search for food and shelter following scent trails left by themselves or other rodents. Bleaching the perimeter breaks the trail. Another similar option but not easily done its to disturb the ground cover (aprox 24") around a given habitat area. twocents

I once had a similar concern when storing my classic Mustang for the winter. I tried those ultrasonic pest repellers, hoping they'd do the trick, but unfortunately, they didn't seem to make much of a difference. However, I've heard mixed reviews from others. Some swear by them, while others say they're not effective. It might depend on the specific pests and your car's environment. You could give them a shot, but it's always good to have a backup plan.

Victor wooden snap traps and peanut butter. Catch about one in the shop every other month.

When we were still parking our cars outside we developed an issue with mice for (unmentioned reasons) LOL. I found these to be quite effective LINKY

But not sure if I would rely on them in your situation. The only other thing I found to work extremely well was Peppermint oil /extract. I would treat rags with it placed around the tires which is their normal path of attack. The scent is STRONG and lasts a month or more before needing to retreat. You can check AMZ for reviews and buy there as well as a local store.

I do have several of the Victor zappers, if interested PM me. I won't be surprised if you don't beer

Friend of mine was getting mice in his camper and he tried the plug in repellers. This spring still had mice. I tried some in my garage and caught mice under the outlet they were plugged in to
We have had mice in farm equipment and tried Irish Spring, which they will chew on, poison, which you hope if they die its not in the truck and other things. Latest thing is a little bag that smells like pine and not sure how much it does but it does smell fresh lol. I guess we had one tractor they still got in but figured out how. They are annoying. One one of our combines they chewed the cloth insulation some of the engine sensor wires were covered in. Not sure why they want to eat that

One of the reasons for them liking the wire insulation maybe because years ago some eco engineer thought it would be a great idea to make the insulation out of a soy based product. I live surrounded by a 160 year old farm and for years they would alternate what was planted and one of the crops of course was soybeans. The years they would plant something else I had to keep a closer watch on the cars, truck and motorcycles as the rodents went after the insulations more aggressively for some reason wink mad Our side yard, yeah that's my little JD mower blush grin
