I was actually trying to broker a sale between my buddy and Tom but my buddy flaked out. Gave it some thought and took the plunge.

I have always wanted a RWB Rebel Machine, S/C Rambler in an a or B scheme, AMX, Marlin or even a Gremlin X. I have always liked the under dog and believe America should have done whatever it took to keep American Motors alive to this day since this is America.

The thing about AMC is that they took the best of Ford, GM and Mopar and made a pretty good product. AMX followed the Vette, Madador the 70 RR/GTX, and the Marlin the 1st generation Charger. From the looks of things there may of been a little industrial spying going on.

Had my newly completed project at the Martin Museum for a few minutes then Mixteca Had one almost identical to your AMX. My wife was pissed when I sold it, the only car that has ever happened about! Black with black bucket interior, 4-speed but the engine was replaced with a 401 out of a cop car. Had the side pipes, I think they called them "trendsetters"?

From the looks of things there may of been a little industrial spying going on. Well....I don't know that they took the 'best' of anything. Most of their vehicles were somewhat mish-mashed things that really were nothing special. I still remember going with my Dad to get rid of his big-block Newport during the gas crunch. He wanted to get something more efficient. Ended up with a Gremlin X brand new. He kept it about 6 months (tops). Thing was pathetic on fuel and got worse gas mileage than his old Newport.
Never, ever argue with an IDIOT. They will drag you to their level and then beat you with their years of experience

Always have loved the SC Rambler. Heck back when I started getting into Mopars 20 years ago(yep I was a Pontiac man) I seriously considered an A scheme car. They were relatively cheap still with a decent one going for about 6k. Nah, like trans ams, they will never rise in price. I'll get one later. Besides, being honest, I never had the money to buy a nice car. see all these folks talking about buying cheap cars back in the 80's. Yeah, I remember a nice 68RR in Benton Center NY in 84 that sat there for more than a year for sale. Price? 4500. Didn't have that either.
