Hello Everyone,
I am looking for a very mild performance cam for an upcoming 440 rebuild. The engine will be about 9 to 1 comp, mildly ported 516 heads, dual plane intake and headers. This is a street car (67 satellite) auto, probably 3.23 to 3.55 rear. Has anyone used the Edelbrock performer cam? Comments? I also saw an "Elgin: cam that has .449 int, .464 ex, 215/225@.050 and a 115 centerline. Any comments on that one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bone stock 375 hp cam is bigger than that elgin. I would look at the comp xe 274 as a bare minimum. I assume you want more hp than stock?

I would take a look at the Lunati Voodoo 60303. It's 226/234 @ 050 with 494/512 lift if memory serves.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. As afar as the stock 375 cam, what are the specs on that cam? The comp cams that was suggested, will it work well with a comp ratio of only 9-to-1?

Mike

Mopar 528 solid??? I ran a Summit 224-234/465-488 in a very mild 440 like yours. It ran great 12.90's @104 And you can catch them for $80 on sale w/ lifters!

Better buy one quick. I think they were made by Crane.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

It is a Crane, and FWIW it's tons better than an old purple shaft 484 in a lowish compression street pounding 440. It pulls well from off idle to around 5800, 6400 w/ 6 lbs of boost

Thanks for all the comments. I have a couple of follow up questions. With the Summit cam, do I have to have adjustable push rods or rockers? Also, will a spring with a seat pressure of 90lbs and and open pressure 265lbs be ok?

Mike

Summit has push rods, all you need are stcok replacement. springs should be ok but ask the summit tech. If you need them they can set you up w/ a set of springs pretty cheap too.
