It's possible the fuel inlet hoses are too high up too far away from the carburetor inlets so the air cleaner base may contact the hoses?

Looking around it appears the fuel lines from the factory setup drop down sooner than what you have there.

The stock street hemi fuel lines are bent down coming out of the carb fitting to clear the air cleaners (and shakers) on all 6 years of them in both B and E body, not so in 1968 A bodies with the race hemis grin

Aren't there different airhorn diameters too? IIRC earlier AFB were smaller than the current products.

Nope that won't work. You need the 90 degree fittings. Factory had a brass 90 threaded into the carbs and lines went straight up.
