Lately since my knee surgery 10 days ago, I've been propping my leg up & icing my knee, & binge watching Mannix. He just transitioned from the Dart 340 convertible, to the forest green 1970 Cuda convert. You can't really hear the Cuda like you could the Dart, so my question is - WHAT engine is the Cuda packing? (it has the scooped hood, but there is no jewelry on it).

I had heard the 70 was a 383 but cant confirm that. Not sure what engine the 71 had......... or the 72 for that matter which was likely one of the above converted to a look like a 72 convertible. Check the location of the fog lights on the 71

There have been multiple threads in the past about this.
I believe that there may be one scene with the hood up.
As him being a PI , at least the green car blends in. There is one Mannix episode in season 5 where a villain is driving a ‘71 TorRed 383 Road Runner that has a Black and Orange bucket seat interior. The episode has long shots across the mountain roads where you can see the Road Runner a mile away.

Must have been two different 1970 Cuda convertibles that Mannix used. One without the luggage rack, with 14 inch magnum wheels and no hockey stick stripe, and the one above with luggage rack and rallye wheels...easy enough for current owner to change wheels and add the stripe, but add a luggage rack ? Was there ever a Mannix episode with a car with hockey stick stripe.

I recall an underhood shot showing a 383, complete with the pie tin on the air cleaner. It's been a while since I saw it, but it may have been the '71-dressed-as-a-'72.

So far, NO hockey stick stripe on the '70. In the second episode with the 70 Cuda, Mannix is ordered by one of the bad guys to open the hood & loosen the upper radiator hose, but you could not see the air cleaner or pie tin - I was waiting for that. Mannix was a GREAT show - Mike Connors was perfect for the part & a great actor.

While not about the 'cuda, there were some odd episodes with the Darts. Yes, there was a '68 GTS convertible and a '69. He is shown in the same scene driving both cars at different times in the scene. The cars were similar, but had different wheels and steering wheels.
