Many of you have probably seen this one but it's intense. Not meaning to start a controversial discussion on yay or nay on pursuits. We could fill pages of this on another thread. ASP has been very successful though on court cases involving pursuits. Anyway, here you go in case you haven't seen it. Also, the female trooper that has the lead until she crashes and arrives on scene after the crash is the largest female officer I've ever seen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_W4UrZlrV8

While the pit was good with no major injuries, the speeds of that truck should have terminated the chase at many points. Wonder what the offense was for chase? Neither attempt to PIT the truck was really very good, they were more of a straight ram from the back. A good PIT hits the rear side behind the rear wheel and accelerates until the vehicle is out of control. There's a study from the Federal Law Enforcement Trailing Center that shows it's much harder to PIT a modern vehicle with Electronic Stability Control and requires more steering input, acceleration, and braking than with older vehicles. Also it notes that many manufacturers program the brake lights to come on when ESC is activated, even if the brake pedal isn't depressed. You can see this with the truck in the video. If you watch On Patrol live or troll YouTube for dash-cam videos, you see that often, officers tap the rear 1/4 then brake instead of accelerating through, and ESC lets the fleeing driver regain control. In this case it looks like the officer got under the back of the truck and pushed until the driver lost control; luckily it went off the shoulder instead of into oncoming traffic...

It definitely wasn't a perfect PIT by any means. Most agencies forbid the ramming of vehicle from behind and we saw why in this video. They also did a rolling roadblock which many agencies frown upon. But ASP seems to be in a category of their own.

Yikes, that big cop in video #1 was a chick ? Noticed the pinhead in the left lane oblivious to the cops, nice pirouette on cop car #2, and that pickup was a smoker. Yeah she's a beast! Anna something. And the oblivious left laners sometimes are understandable because before they hear the siren or see lights you're right on them. But many shouldn't even be putting along in left lane in the first place. The ones that hit the brakes are the worst. They don't move out of your way, they just brake!

You can pretty much see the attitude change of the Trooper in his pursuit driving, when the Motorcycle actually begins to elude. Trooper feels he has been "dissed" or something. Some people are just bad, some people make stupid mistakes. They will always be around. If that angers you, get another job. It's commonly known when a person becomes angry for any reason, they are on a very slippery path to becoming very stupid and suffer from tunnel vision, and a well-trained professional that is capable of using legally deadly force should be able to self-recognize that decline, as the outcome is seldom good. And Innocent lives are put at risk.
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

I knew despite my opening line that stated I wasn't trying to turn this into a controversial discussion on pursuit policies, there'd be someone who couldn't stop themselves from a bit of bashing. Now I guess they best move or lock the thread. Did you also not bother to see this was in the General section? Seems YOU can't control yourself.

Sorry, I don't see the controversy, I made I believe an observation that others might have missed and stated why the observation might be important for everybody. If stating items that have merit is "bashing", then I disagree, and it was certainly not my intention. Picking a different more benign video to post could solve this problem. You knew it would tease a response, but you posted it anyway? So then neither of us is then blameless? I see no reason to move or lock, as the topic has merit and rational adults can discuss or comment as I see it within civil bounds.

So you don't think the video is "benign" ("Picking a different more benign video to post could solve this problem") however your comments are? I posted it to watch the intense pursuit. You were clearly criticizing the Officer and implying he shouldn't be a cop. My original post and comments were benign just not your typical response whenever it involves Police. If you think I believe your response wasn't directed at criticizing the officer than you're very mistaken. Get real. You should re-read your response. You're probably right though in one respect. I should've known there'd be someone like you that couldn't resist taking a shot at Police.

If you plan to run from the police, do it somewhere besides Arkansas. The police will pursue you. Should you get hurt or worse, oh well. It's nobody's fault but your own. And, forget no-cash bail. Whiny b****es should stay at home.
Your life is not my fault. My life is none of your business.
