so about midnight last night, I bought a dana 60 rearend housing that had been is a shed since 1975. told it was from a 1969 roadrunner and it measured up correctly. I've been looking on the pass side tube for a date, but I cant see anything. is it possible that it didn't have one or it's in a different area on the housing?

Looks like it is drilled and tapped for a pinion snubber so it probably is a real deal. Confirm the pad to pad and end to end spacing and then look some more for the date and part number. If it is a real deal then they'll be there unless the tube was replaced.

It came with correct axles that have never had bolts in them, two diff covers, two set of gears (one race and original 3:54 set) and was not modified from what I can see. Appreciate the index and hope to have time over the weekend to check it out properly.

Looks like a wire wheel and chemtool weekend.

Those aren't stock caps, maybe a direct connection/mopar performance housing.

See if you can get the housing dipped. That would probably be the easy way to clean it up.

previous owner added Mark Williams reinforcement caps. Said to help with the weak points in the dana's.

finding a place like that in California for that size and with the states strict environmental laws and costs, would be easier to just do it at home.

Found it. After 1/2 hour of scraping, got a mild sanding block and was able to find it. Thanks for the help guys.

Can you get Evaporust in Cali , making something that you can put the rear in them using a few 5 gal pails would probably do it , I have a dana 60 that's been sitting out in the elements for far too long that needs a dip and I think this is how I will tacle it , at least the inside ?
