I am refreshing the gauge cover in my 1979 D150.

Should I....

repaint it silver (stock)

Black with silver accents (around guage cutouts)

Or tan to dash pad

I am open to all three but cannot make up my mind.

I'm with poorboy - the black with silver accents would look good.

I started cleaning up the panel today. The previous job was sub-par for sure. Poor paint prep. I built a radio blockoff plate, to feel the hole for now.

Like minds. up Luckily I only had to use it on a couple of areas, the previous prep was so bad a lot of areas where already flaking off. Sanding off the chrome was the hardest part.

Moving in the black and silver direction. The wood grain on the door panels and steering wheel needs to be redone, and I am looking at painting them black, so the theme will be the same throughout.

Thanks for the vote.

It's not perfect.
It's not correct.
It's not yours!

They are textured. But there are ways around that.

How about a carbon fiber look? Look up hydro dipping, The surface is only limited to your imagination.

I have thought about hydro transferring, and I really like all the possibilities and options offered by the process. I am just trying to keep it low dollar, yet want an little more stock yet updated feel.

Thanks for the in put. wave
