Does anyone know what the china wall height on a B engine is supposed to be? I know that a RB block is 10.875" from the crank centerline

Thanks in advance

I DON'T KNOW for certain but being that it is 45 degrees wouldn't the vertical height drop be 50% of the change at 45degrees? If the height is 10.875 now that should put the new china wall at 10.505?

Hardcore, I have a factory 400 short motor on the stand. I measured 10.375 from china wall to centre of crankshaft. hopefully others will chime in.

I don't know how or when the term was coined , but it's the flat rail the front and back of the valley tray bolts 2 between the cylinder banks .

running up my post count some more .

China wall is an engineering term that describes a short wall that divides a space. Usually to keep something inside or outside of a machined part. Could also call it a stem wall, but most people use the term China wall.

I'm thinking that height (10.875) is the blueprint deck height, not the "China wall height"
The "China Wall" width is wider on the RB versus the B motors shruggy

I haven't logged-in to reaffirm this measurement works for me assuming you measured right...It's the one I'd go by! I don't see any reason for other confusion?

The other confusion is just typical internet forum mixture of confusion, ignorance and irrelevance. You get used to it after a while!

I had no idea what to call it, I had to google it to check. The term China wall gets used be the small block guys often, as there is an oil feed in the front China wall.

The new Callies block show the height for the China Wall in their advertising, that is where the 10.875" dimension came from, FYI

I am considering doing a run of B1 billet valley plates this year, and am just verifying some dimensions. I am planning on changing my previous design.

Thanks for the replies
