I had never seen this movie. Was a bit before my time. I recently saw it, and again last night on TV, and wow what a well done movie. It has aged very well IMO and I recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it. It may seem like it's not your type of movie, but impress you nevertheless. Great acting, great characters and just well done overall.

I don't remember why I saw it when it came out, but that movie was traumatizing for me.
One thing I don't mess with or entertain is anything occult or Satanic...I keep that stuff as far from me as possible.

I saw it at the drive-in theater when it originally came out. Had quite a few beers in me and didn't pay a lot of attention to it so it didn't really bother me much. Saw it again at some point afterward when I had not been drinking and it scared the crap out of me. Never watched it again to this day. For Christmas some years back a relative gave me the dvd of it for a gift. I took it back to the store for a refund. I don't care to watch horror movies with religious overtones. Same thing for The Omen.

I tried watching the Omen once a few years ago and got bored.

I took the Exorcist as a complete fiction, but it probably helps that I was an adult the first time I saw it. I wouldn't have wanted to see it as a child.

It's based on a true story.

Did you see the un-cut version? I saw it when it came out at the theater and I was 13. It was made to scare the country and it scared the crap out of me. Totally unlike any movie at that time.

Saw it in the theater up town when it came out. Buddy and I were both 15 and had to walk home along dark tree lined streets. I remember the wind kept kicking up as we walked. It was pretty terrifying.

I heard that after Jaws came out the # of people who went into the water dropped. Don't know how true it is. The Amityville Horror was also based off a true story but it was completely different than what actually happened. They have to make the story interesting or nobody would want to watch it.

There is an exorcist sequel that was released last year, called "Believer". I saw it as I like horror movies. It was good.

I didn't see it until I was an adult later in the 70's. Didn't see what the big deal was. I guy I worked with at the time said that I must not be Catholic (I'm not). Really enjoyed the SNL spoof with Richard Prior.

"Really enjoyed the SNL spoof with Richard Prior." That was funny.

I watched it as a little kid. I was too young to understand much of it. Aside from the vomiting, assorted head & body convulsions and her stabbing her crotch with I don't remember much else. I think the priest jumped out of the window at the end right?

When I got in my teens I thought I might watch it again but never got around to it.

Now occult and satanic movies do not get my interest so I may not see it.

I do remember when it came out there was a big stink going about kids playing roles in movies that they couldn't watch at the theater because they were too young to buy a ticket to the movie.
