Picking up more parts today and came across a very old cam box that has 3512907 on it. On line the only thing that comes up is 71 HP. Would this be same as 68-70? Still has cosmoline on it.

I don't know if the part number is the same, but IIRC the specs weren't any different between '68 thru '71

I checked it on lathe with dial indicator, comes up around 4.45 lift with 1.5 rocker, cam shows .0297

I’ll stick it in the Hemi block and check with a lifter and see what that lift shows.

Put it in some V blocks(wood, steel or whatever you can use) and measure the lobe lift with a dial indicator or measure the flank of both an intake and exhaust lobe and then measure the lobe height off of the bottom of the lobe to the top of the lobes with a set of dial calipers then due math the wrench scope up

That’s what I did in the lathe, dial indicator measured from base to crown turning cam 180*

Check an exhaust, too; should come out around .306-ish

Sound rights; measures 214 / 226 @ .050", 115 LSA. When you install it, you may find it's already advanced 3 degrees when put "dot to dot"... at least the original one I checked from a '69-1/2 440 6-BBL car was.

it wouldn't surprise me one bit that the 1969 1/2 six barrel motors did not have the same cam, grind and vendor as the 375 HP single bolt 440 motors had work shruggy
I believe those were the first 440 HP motors to get the three bolt cams and timing sets shruggy

Well, the bad news. I thought it would come out more so cleaned off the back end. The numbers came up like it says but fronts are smaller. I used my 2” calipers to measure lobe, different. It’s a used cam, under a LED lamp I could see the lifter path.
I’ll send it to Oregon cams to have it reground back to stock and they can copy to make more.

I think the A12s had single bolt cams.

Joe

PS, I think they also had a lower taper grind on the lobes.
