I'm still working on installing my front brakes, suspension and steering linkage on my Dart (I've never had to do this before). All of this was removed from the car when I took it apart prior to body and paint work. I have a question about installing the tie rods that I couldn't find info on in the service manual. I don't have the brake rotors/wheels on yet but I have the spindles positioned as close as I can tell that the wheels would be straight forward if they were on the car and the steering linkage is centered. So, I threaded each inner and outer tie rod end equal length into the adjusters until I reached the length needed that the pivot studs would fit into both the lower ball joint and center link holes. I then installed the nuts (just finger tight for now). Did I do this right or should I do something differently?

I can't say as I don't have the steering column installed yet. I plan on installing it next and checking to be sure it lines up before I tighten everything up on the steering linkage.

On a BIG piece of paper, where you keep the keys for that car, write "TIE RODS NOT TIGHT". Easy to forget things when your chest deep in a build.

Yes, I know what you mean. My memory is not the greatest anymore anyway. I already have a list going of other things I've only finger tightened until I'm sure everything is right.

I have another question related to the steering linkage. I used an original idler arm that I had that was in really good condition. I've been thinking about it and was thinking, with the idler arm turning left and right repeatedly, wouldn't it or the k-frame bracket it is mounted into wear out where they rub together since they aren't greased? I put some grease on the bolt before I slid it in place but it seems like the top or bottom of the arm where they contact the mounting bracket should have some lubricant.

In most cars the top and bottom of the idler arm are Clamped in the Idler arm bracket and do not turn. They hold the inner tube the bolt goes through which has a bushing around it. The outer part of the arm rotates around the tube.

The anatomy is slightly different design to design but the part you are concerned about should not rotate in the bracket when bolted tight.
