We are attending a conference in Orlando (Tinwood area) next month and will have some time on our hands. Not interested in the theme parks so looking for car stuff (museums, classic and specialty dealerships). Also any recommendations on food in the area? Probably going to hit some of the motorcycle shops and motocross tracks like Dade City. Any other suggestions to fill a week?

I highly suggest "4 Rivers" BBQ, they have a couple of local locations in Orlando. www.4rsmokehouse.comThere is a store that back in the days of the NASA boom and the proliferation of the space industry in the mid Florida Area, they sold a lot of surplus/prototype high end odds and ends at very attractive prices, They have everything, but the last decade or so they have started to move it seems to a more HF theme. Regardless everyone should make at least one visit, it might be 15 minutes or 4 hours. Not sure GF/wife's would last 5 minutes. I set a budget before entering. skycraftsurplus.com Local track raceosw.com There is an impressive Air Museum 25? miles west of Orlando right off the interstate, it's I believe the largest private collection in the country, I have been a number of times. The pinnacle is the 4+hr expensive private tour. www.fantasyofflight.comGatorland is a fun tourist trap place for everyone to visit for a few hours at least once. Sometimes the petting Zoo is open when the Gators are hungry. It's also the headwaters for the Florida Everglades 200 miles to the south. www.gatorland.com
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

Garlits Museum - mandatory for anyone with an interest in drag racing. agree 100% but not just drag racing. They also have a separate building with a nice collection of classics. It's also worth it to Call ahead and ask if you can go through their restoration shop. They occasionally open it for tours. You might get lucky Silver springs state park is close enough to do Garlits and glass bottom boat tour in the same day.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

If the Op is willing to travel within a 75 miles radius, there many sights to see, including Garlits and Silver Springs. Cape Canaveral, Tampa, Bok Tower Gardens, Daytona?, Ocala National Forest, and so on.
