Yesterday, my Dually - who goes by the name Mark, but that's another story - wouldn't turn over.
I'd left its battery tender off for a couple weeks or so.
Gave it a quick charge, and in 15-20 minutes it lit right off.

Looked at what appeared to be a date sticker - it said "5/11" - and looked in its vehicle file.
It's a 3-year battery, bought June 2011.
Sure enough, the battery had entered puberty !
That beats my previous record of 11 years.

Needless to say, even though the old battery has maintained 12.3 V for a couple days just sitting disconnected, I bought a new one today.

Wow....that's great. Longest life I've ever gotten was 14 years. It was in my 2004 Dodge diesel pickup. The original batteries lasted until 2018! boogie They didn't owe me a thing...lol.

my local Car Quest handles Harris Batteries. I've been getting 11-12 years out of them.

i have a wally world battery i have been using for my charger that has a date of 4/11.
i swiped it out of my wife's car and used one of those pulse chargers on it.
it will work ok, but i still charge it now and again just to keep it up.

Dang, that's impressive! Be prepared to have to replace your new one in three years and one month.

I'm still getting a chuckle out of the deal days later...probably should have bought a lottery ticket laugh2

A12, not sure I recall the brand correctly, think it was "Sure Start", bought from O'Reilly's.
All I ever did was have it hooked to a Schumacher maintainer when the truck would sit for awhile.
Until recently, that is.
I was reluctant to turn it in for the core charge laugh2

Thats awesome you got long time from your battery !!! . . . amazing what can happen when the battery is kept 'topped' up (charge wise), and topped up liquid wise too (I use distilled water) - that is if you can pop the caps off and check the fluid level in the cells. My MB I bought in 2015, the shop said the battery "should be replaced" . . . lol, thanks. I have kept the battery maintainer on it when not driving car, and it battery lasted til last fall !!! . . . nine years out of a "bad" battery - damn good !!! lol . . .

When I met my wife in 1981 she had a 76 Dodge Colt. We drove the crap out of that car, and after we moved back north from South Carolina in 1986 it was still going strong. Sometime in 1987 it finally was starting hard, so I replaced the battery. Got 11 years out of that battery... up
