Thought I might ask here for ideas on controlling the humidity in the daily driver garage. Haven't really used it much in years past and the past few winters have been pretty mild. This years a different story. I've broomed the majority of the water out but it's pretty damp in there (60%+) . pretty humid out side as well as our 13 or so inches of snow is melting. Too cold for a regular dehumidifier so ??? shruggy
TIA beer

I have used a electric heater with limited success. I know not to use a propane heater as is makes the moisture issue worse.

I believe it's because the garage is colder than the outside. We just went through this the other day when the outside temps went above 50 and the garage temp was still in the low 40's. Having the garage door opened for a bit, everything inside got condensation, like a cold drink in the summer. Today it is back to normal as the garage temp has gone up.

We live on an island. I run just a plain ole $150 basement dehumidifier you get at Home Depot or Lowes. Keeps the humidity down year round from about 90% to 35%. Thought I'd have to get some commerical dehumidifier used for an indor pool but nope. Just a cheap house one worked.

Also add a fan to circulate the air. I use a simple rat cage from an old furnace.

I am not rich...but I get off my ass everyday to make sure I am not broke!

Can we get the Mexican cartels to help us with our supply chain issues? They don't seem to have any trouble getting stuff from one place to another.

Agreed. I also have a ceiling fan in the garage that spins on low 24/7 for that very reason.

I use a wall mounted heater, Dehumidifier, fans blowing under each car and a ceiling fan to circulate the air.

The furnace in the garage set at 58 degrees pretty much solved that problem, up until the floor drain got plugged up. These days I broom out the water from the snow melt, and within an hour or two, everything is dry. About every 3-4 years that drain gets plugged and I have to rat it out. Its about that time again.

I have a 2 story garage. From the front garage door to the back wall, the ground level drops 8', and on the lower level there is a garage door that opens from the rear of the upper garage. That lower garage that is mostly under ground is nearly always wet. The floor drain for the upper garage floor dumps on the west side of the cement wall for the lower garage.

Pic 1) View of my garage from the west side. The dark stain is where the floor drain for the top garage floor exits the building.
Pic 2) A perspective from the front looking towards the north west.
