First picture is a box ram intake for a Pontiac engine. Going on a 455 I believe but I'm not sure. The customer has a bunch of Pontiac engines. 421, 428, 455, etc.
Second picture is a set of Pontiac racing heads that were made to fit a SB Chevy block. I only have a vague memory of these things. I think they cast them in the 90's and they were an over the counter thing. Probably some sort of rules deal. Might have been so they could run a more aerodynamic body in a certain class or something? These are good heads. Back in the day they made well over 700 when run on a high compression 410 to 420 inch short block. They were mostly used in circle track racing but I wouldn't be surprised if a few of them made it to the drags.

I would love that 455 set up on my jet boat.

If you want to see some really cool 90's tech than you should check out the Buick heads for a SB chevy block. Same deal as the Pontiac, for circle track racing. The Buick head is a symmetrical port head that was a copy of the Stage 2 V6 head and adapted to the SB block. I think the heads are also known as the Dart/Buick head.

Nice, what's the inside of the box-ram look like?

We had a set of those old roundy round "Pontiac" heads that had been worked over pretty good on a 434" sb chevy years ago. Made right at 700 hp and ran real good. It picked up some power when we switched to some out of the box AFR 227 CNC heads though.

I never got a chance to look. The owner brought that intake in for a fit check on an engine that is being built and then he carried it back out. I thought it was a rather crude looking intake. No idea who makes it but I'm not really up to speed on the Pontiac stuff. I don't know if it is an old intake or something new.

OK thanks, it looked very similar to the Seanman/Modman I did so I wanted to see what they did on the inside.

From what little I have found so far that intake is a repop of the 421 super duty bathtub tunnel ram , I found this for sale thread from last year on Yenko.net .

https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=173681

This may be where that intake started life ? I've only read the first page , it seems like someone repopped it in 2007 first ?

https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=845557

five pages in this is what the inside should look like ?

Cool find. I didn't even know there was a 421 bathtub intake. That is kind of wild. I bet the original ones are rare and expensive.

From what I'm reading they are both , the guys buying the repop this guy made weren't even blinking at his guesstimate of 2500-3000 repop. He is selling the first run at 2500 which fits the 61-64 pontiac head. The one your guy brought in may be the one he had made to fit the 65 and later head ... water crossover is the difference. ... they even have the pontiac part number on them to so they can be used in certain racing classes . The original intake has dual quads AND a 3 bolt flange 2bbl car in the middle , progressive linkage so on the street at low speed you are running on the 2bbl ... that is nuts .

This is what we do to the inside of the modman. Plenum spacer and the add the center tent or teepee filler. That one has a better angle into the runners than the modman.
