Do ultrasonic pest repellers really work in a car? Thinking about moving the GTX from the garage to a barn for a short period of a few months but concerned about mice, etc., finding a nice warmer home. There are lots of ultrasonic battery pest repellers but do they really work or even repel? If they do work is it best to have two or several at different locations? Here's an example that is "top" rated for whatever that is worth? Going to go check out some video reviews but just thought I would see if any members have any experience or anything to say? Thanks.

Personally, I have no idea if those work or not.

If it were me, I would buy, at least six, five-gallon pails and replace the lids with these:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...313&_nkw=mouse+trap+lid&_sacat=0

Bait the lid traps with peanut butter, put two gallons of plumbing antifreeze in each pail, and put one at each corner of the car as well as beside the middle of the doors. Check daily for what the traps have caught.

Hope this helps.

All I can say is, I've never in 22 years had a mouse in my car. I have 4 of those ultra sound repellers in it year around.

They may have worked for keeping mice out of my old shop when I lived in the woods, but the squirrels didn't mind them at all.
Luckily, neither ever got into one of the cars.

peppermint oil or extract works extremely well. I wouldn't put it in the car but rather soaked rags or containers of around the tires the odor lingers for some time but You'll have to keep an nose 🤣 on the smell to keep them away. but they hate the stuff wink

Front page Sunday Wall Street Journal article is titled
“New York City Professor Wages Battle Against Rats Attacking his Car”

Sample Quote:
An online car forum mentions witchcraft: “Burn rodent bones and chant Druid expulsion alms”

If it makes Moparts happier - the Professor was having this problem with a 2015 Toyota Prius C parked on the streets of East Harlem.

After trying dozens of “recommended solutions” with no success
- he sold the Prius,
and bought a Hybrid Ford Escape - he claims problems stopped.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Spread mothballs around. Rodents hate them.

They sure haven't worked in my house, I can't imagine they'd work in a car.
Bell & Howell plug-in ultrasonic pest repeller: Found mouse pellets directly below it.
Peppermint/mint oil repellent packs: Saw mouse actually move toward it.
Attractant gel in both humane and snap traps: Ignored.
Green poison baits in bait stations placed by exterminator: Turned the crap green, didn't appear to impact the mouse otherwise.

You know what got rid of it?
Whacking it with a plastic dustpan when it paused between one inaccessible hiding place and another.
Felt a little guilty about how long it took to actually die after I hit it (it made it under the fridge, but I was able to drag it out with a ruler), but y'know, I tried pretty much everything short of inviting one of the neighborhood cats inside.

Cats can be very effective and fun to watch. Years ago we had a small 7 pound dachshund that was even better at killing rodents. He could kill a rat half his size in about two seconds. He didn't play with them like a cat does. We called him Rat Slayer.

I was watching one of the dog shows the other day and they were talking about how they were originally bred for that!

A good friend and his wife always had Dachshunds and told me they were originally bread for the purpose of going down into groundhog holes on farm fields to kill and drag them out or to drag them out and kill them. When horses were the primary means of farming the horses would step into the groundhog holes and either break their leg or get injured and most times had to be put down. My friends would have a bunch of large diameter PVC tubing either indoor or outdoor from when they were puppies till they were old and they loved to crawl and "run" through all day. I should get one or two to take care of the 10 or so groundhog holes on the surrounding property. I've stepped into the holes too many times and even gone down mad The John Deere mower has been stuck in one or two of the holes a few times too. Dachhounds are great "Ratters". Snap traps and peanut butter has been the most effective for getting mice in the late fall and early winter as they move inside our 160+ year old farm house. Plus, two great cats a mom and daughter.

I have a couple of these bucket traps and they catch mice. We have a detached garage with an attic and I have one on each level.
