I curb-rashed the sh!t outta one of my 1320's front wheels and it looks worse than I think a DIY repair would cover. Anyone have experience with "wheel repair" businesses that are supposed to fix this kind of stuff? The cost of a replacement wheel from Mopar is shocking (> $1K) and even "refinished" used wheels are $600-800. Thx

If you have a good relationship with your dealership or a salesman ask them who they use. Typically dealers have someone that comes onsite to fix wheels on trade ins. Depending on how bad it is, may need rebalanced after?

A place near Annapolis fixed a wheel on my wifes VW. It turned out really nice. I can try and find the name.

I curb-rashed a wheel on my 2017 Challenger R/T. I called a mobile wheel repair company. They came to my house. Did a great job. Cost was 140.00.

as others suggested
check with your local dealership on who they use.
i would also check with a good local quality bodyshop you trust on who they use.

We didn't have a curb rash problem, we had a bent rim problem from a pothole impact. Local tire shop referred me to the guys who fixed it. Cost me $150 plus some tires...

So how do they "fix" the curb rash? Some sort of cosmetic fix? Filler? Paint? I'm not aware of an easy way to fix gouges in aluminum.

Sometimes they (aluminum) weld to fill in the damage and even magnesium weld then machine it back to original.

Lots of repair kits out there if you want to DIY. Now that's a card trick that's useful wink

Found a local shop or two that are probably worth contacting. FWIW, here's my Christmas Eve "gift" to myself while parking in front of my MIL's house shock

About the same type of damage I had. They sanded it smooth which I'm sure left a slight low spot but the paint matches perfectly and you can't tell where the damage was.

Let the business have a shot and if you're not happy with their results, buy another wheel.

I've used a place called "Interior Wheel" here in BC a couple times now. Guy specializes ONLY in aluminum wheels. He's got it down to a science so there's little time wasted. Reasonably affordable too.
A set of wheels is about $1200 canadian. He did a set of slots that are now on my truck, and a set of Daytona Crabs that are a few years old now and JUST starting to show signs of clearcoat failure.

So, I'd use him again if I ever find a set of the 5-Star AMC aluminum wheels.

Had someone come out this morning and go over all four of my spare wheels, since they ranged from nicks and scratches on them before I bought them up to the curb rash I did (to) myself. The pics below are the before & after of the curb-rashed wheel, but they all came out looking pretty decent. The original damage shown on the wheel is at the 3:00 position; on the "fixed" wheel it's on the 9:00 position (you can see position of the valve stem and by the scratch marks on the sidewall of the tire).
