I received an email from them that I was receiving a credit on my account and that my renewed was canceled. A couple of days later I did see the credit on my account. Must be dead again. I would imagine all print will go away eventually and all be online.

My buddy worked at a local print company and a couple of years ago he was forced out with an early buy out to retire at late 40's. At least his buy out was enough to pay off his bills and house. Then he sold his house, bought a much larger and more expensive house and is now working again full time to pay for new bills. Lol. The American way.

I can't tell you the last time I bought a paper magazine. With all the online forums and moparconnectionmagazine.com posting every day for free plus all the youtube videos there isn't a need for paper magazines anymore, especially Mopar Action. I gave up on them years ago,

MA is the only magazine I keep in a sort of library now, except for a few Mopar issues of other magazines I get.
It's been a good tech source forever.
I prefer paper to internet for reading at night or whatever.
That said, I keep thinking I should let MCG go on without me, since the writing is poorly done, and they make so many mistakes in their text.
But I like seeing old Mopars, the stuff that gets pulled out of storage, and looking through the ads.

I'm surprised that it took this long. Another one bites the dust.
MCG will be next... As Topside mentioned, it's poorly written, the photo quality is bad, and their political rhetoric every issue is beyond pathetic..Mopar Action was adding political crap in their editorials as well.
It's a CAR magazine for cripes sake! If they want to write about that crap, they should start a
magazine dedicated just to that BS! down 👎👎

Ticks me off these people take subscription money and know they are closing. I think I just renewed that one late summer. No notice in the latest issue about this. I love having a magazine to pick up and read on the fly and can keep coming back to it anytime I sit by the fire.

Damn. Sent a two year renewal to those jackals back in October. Just looked on my list. I refuse to do credit cards so places can’t autonewal. Probably know the credit cards will get charged back. Let’s see if they have any morals and refund me anything.

I still enjoyed mopar action, mostly the Erenberg tech stuff. Much like this forum he’s been a great source over the years. Some of the stuff you read on line and especially FB is laughable.

The paper magazines did a great job of leading to “hands on” education.

The USA is suffering from a lack of “hands on” education in many vocations, not just machinery.

To be fair, most of the political commentary in MA is at least automotive related.

I got a renewal notice in the mail just a couple of weeks ago. "BEST DEAL!! $39.97 for 2 years of Mopar Action"

You can't tell me they didn't know at the time these renewals were sent out. Money grab?

(I had a family emergency and never responded. Glad I didn't now).

The decision to kill the magazine wouldn't be from the renewal or editorial staff, but by someone at the actual publisher's office.
So, renewal offers would go out weeks or even months beforehand, and the staff likely wouldn't know they were about to be kicked to the curb.
Possibly the actual talent at MA is scrambling to find a publisher, or a printer, or whatever, so they can re-emerge/continue.
Maybe they can make a deal with whomever MCG uses, but I doubt their circulation would work for whomever publishes MT, or C/D and R&T.
For years, ever since magazines started folding (bad pun), I've only renewed for a year at a time.

I have enjoyed the magazine for a long time and I’ll miss it. I’m potentially out a few dollars on my current subscription. In a worse case scenario a subscriber is out $ 40.

In another viewpoint a number of people will lose their employment. Magazine staff, printers, t-shirt suppliers (where those free t-shirts came from).

In the 60’s there was a certain automotive publishing threshold. Hot Rod, Motor Trend. Popular Hot Rodding and the like. Manufacturers had their trade titles, Ford Times, Dodge News, Plymouth Traveler; all gone now too. Now someone is working to create a buzz for each brand in the internet. It’s just a natural progression of the market.

In the 2000’s there got to be so many magazines, not just automotive, many lifestyle themes then they were gone.

So with MA gone, is there another Mopar specific magazine worth getting?
I see Mopar Collectors Guide, does it include any tech articles?

I really enjoyed Ehrenberg's articles.

I haven't read MA in 15+ years but the ones I saw on the newstand usually had something hideous on the cover like this. No thanks!

Was great back in the 90's though

I love supporting Mopar magazines. I subscribe to MCG and Mopar Action. Sucks Mopar Action is gone. I like reading MCG. People complain but it's better than nothing. MCG has been flying the Mopar flag for a long time. Nothing wrong with that.

I also subscribe to Hot Rod and Hemmings It's alarming that Hot Rod is down to 4 issues a year.

I get three Hemmings magazines. They are pretty good at having a mopar feature per month. Even a nice 340 build and dyno run a couple months ago.

MCG would do well to add a Eberg tech column, you listening out there, Rob?

Athlon is gun heavy in the print area, and I think was having issues just getting shelf space with retailers that still sell magazines. I was under the impression that Athlon took over the printing of MA as a contract print to help offset the costs of the other magazines. MA is still my favorite car mag.

I stopped subscribing to all mags about 10 years back as they were all the same 💩. I would typically read them during lunch to stay up with what was NEW. The tech articles in one mag would show up in another 3-6 months later. And I got burned on a few as well. Sorry we're stopping publication but you can choose from home and gardens, Motor trend (zero interest), or several other crap titles.
I do still get Hemmings with my insurance through Hagerty. haven't looked at one in quite some time but last I did up
There was one J/O that wrote technical articles for one of the rags and he consistently made blatant errors. can't remember his name right now shruggy

I started working for a local small independent telephone company in 1964 as a Apprentice lineman, I transfer into outside plant customer as a apprentice installer repairman in late 1965. That was before deregulation when we provided the phone, house wiring and every part of your telephone service including access to long distance calls., That all change in 1981 when the Federal Government allowed ATT to break up Bell Telephone and ruin one of the best public utility service companies that existed. down puke whiney
I now see many homes without local telephone service, almost all of them puke shruggy
its called progress, correct whistling
As far as the future and information services now the doors are wide open work

Athlon Outdoors (the company that publishes Mopar Action) was purchased by Bleecker Street Publications.

"Athlon Outdoors Portfolio Acquired by Bleecker Street Publications"

https://bleeckerstreetpublications....cquired-by-bleecker-street-publications/

Here's an excerpt from the press release:

The final three (3) issues of print magazines under the previous Athlon Outdoors brand have all gone to print, which marks the end of the print business model. Working with the experienced quality content producers that made Athlon a household name, Bleecker Street Publications will provide the same great content the readership has come to expect in an expanding digital format.

Bought the February 2024 edition of Mopar Action today on the newsstand for about 1/3 the cost of a yearly subscription, which included two mail in cards to acquire a yearly subscription, which according to this thread will never happen.

I did learn something in a brief scan of the magazine today. Rick mentions mopar engineers found another reason to justify positive caster. If one suffers a separated tie rod while driving, the unrestrained wheel will track fairly straight, and the other wheel will retain enough control to likely steer the vehicle to a stop..
Having driven over 3+ million miles without a TR failure, I will have to take his word for it. grin

I threw away 20 years of magazines when I moved. I had 20 years of Hot Rod, Mopar Action, Popular Hot Rodding, Car Craft, etc. For years I kept everything nice and neat in binders. Had everything organized by month and year. Finally got tired of it and tossed it all in a dumpster. Car magazines used to be a big part of my life. I subscribed to about 10 of them back in the 80's and 90's and read every one every month.

My wife helped me when I had 700 car magazines in our old home. She helped organize get rid of alot of them before we moved, they were a mess .Now it's mostly drag racing magazines from the 60s and abfew newer ones nicely organized and some are displayed in a magazine rack.So now I give extra ones away,or put them in the trash.Just a shame how these companies treated thier readers. twocents drive

I've been away from the Mopar forums since end of December -- my house caught on fire, no injuries, car saved ... house being rebuilt by end of 2024 -- and been wondering WHY my forwarding address mail has become less and less... from magazine subscriptions, etc... I called Athlon today about my Mopar Action subscription and missing issues... they told me Mopar Action is no longer produced since their last February 2024 issue... gave no reason why the ending of publication (..."sudden" ) or IF they will begin again. Mopar Action was by far the BEST of all the Mopar magazines... I really enjoyed reading it and have saved all past issues. I typically re-subscribe for two years or longest available. I am saddened by the departure of MA and hope/wish they will return... even if its in digital format.... but I like the paper issues. I've told my wife to get me another casket and put all my magazines in it when I pass away. Or Else... I'd gladly donate them to a worthy new reader... maybe a charity donation or similar (military included).... I can't throw them away... too valuable ... many many past years of magazines... back to the sixties. Mopar or No Car!

Its been fun reading Cliff's and Richard's articles, editorials, for so many past years, etc... They did their job with a passion!... and with FUN! I've met them both... cool guys! The BEST Mopar writers! Wish they would've published 12 issues a year!

PS: I also contacted Mopar Collector's Guide... they mail in 3rd Class... no forwarding mail... but they did sign me up for digital so that I can re-capture the missing recent issues.

Mopar Mitch "Road racers and autocrossers go in deeper and come out harder!"... and rain never stops us from having fun with our cars... in fact, it makes us better drivers! Check out MOPAR ACTION MAGAZINE, August 2006 issue for feature article and specs on my autocross T/A!

I occasionally watch a Youtuber named Craig Lieberman. He is about 55 years old. He designed all the cars for the first Fast and Furious Movie. His personal past includes owning and racing V8 muscle cars with lots of street drag racing- old school style on a vacant road without spectators lining both sides like today. Any way he said the mid 2000s was a turning point for aftermarket manufacturers of parts as to who would receive free products- Magazines were still a thing but cable TV car build shows were in full force and internet websites was the latest interrupter. Print media needs people buying their magazines but they also need heavy sponsorship from the aftermarket companies. In the 90s EVERY OTHER page of the 2 most popular muscle car magazines had an advertisement. I wonder if the aftermarket no longer delivering freight loads of donated products to print magazines is a big factor with that magazines demise.

Keep old mopars alive.

Sure there was plenty of advertising in MA but I never got the impression that articles were just long ads. Certainly not like the mainstream rags.

Really, lots of MA stuff was junkyard based.

The internet replaced magazines and they are never coming back. I too was a car magazine fanatic back in the 90's and thats exactly why car forums like this were some of the most popular spots in the internets beginning. Hot rod may have been onto something years back when they had their own website and forum like this, it was pretty popular but they got rid of it for some reason. That would have been a good way to at least keep a digital format of a car magazine alive.
