I have an 8.25 rear in my 72 Newport that I want to change gears in. It appears I have a 2.45 ratio. Is it possible to run a lower gear in this case? I have several gears and a later trak loc but I think the case needs to be of a 2.76 or lower ? Hoping you guys can set me straight.

I can always dran an 8.75 or 9.25 out of arts cars I have but man this would be a lot easier.

Yes, any steep gear than 2.45 in the 8 1/4 will need a carrier change, opportunity for a Suregrip installation.

So a different housing is needed? This housing is not usable for anything 2.76 or lower?
