Any of you gents Know where you can purchase a new Indy max wedge intake manifold with a 4500 dominator top? Indy has one on their site, but it’s $900.00 bucks. Trying to find it somewhere for less. Thanks for any help.

They come up on Facebook Marketplace once in a while. Just saw one the other day, for just over half that price, but can't remember the location. maybe around INDY?

See em on Facebook for sale all the time it seems like.
I know a lot of folks hate Facebook and refuse to get on there, but if you want to buy or sell anything...it's the best game in town.

Cab this will be for an RB 572. I don’t know the difference between first or second, so you will have to educate me. Thanks for answering.

No, it’s not a misprint, it’s $900 bucks, and I called INDY to verify the price and it’s correct. Unfortunately, I spent a lot of money having BES port an INDY manifold for a 4150. 572 will need a lot more fuel than a street manifold. A costly mistake, UGHHH

Just use an adapter for the 4500 carb.

Depending on who you talk to, some people prefer it.
But, you’ll need an extra 2” of hood clearance.

Just have someone redrill the bolt pattern on the carb pad and plend in the are under the carb a bit.

I guess that may work Al. When I look on Indy’s website, the 4150 and 4500 are adjacent to each other, so it’s Very obvious how much larger the opening of the 4500 is. Going to have to mull this over a bit.

We have redrilled MANY Indy intakes to take a 4500 carb and done some simple blending and they worked great. When I went put a 446 out of my 67 D100 into our dragster for my kid to learn in I drilled the very same Indy intake you have from a 4150 to 4500 and did some blending. The car went from running 8.40's here in Vegas to 8.teens...

Thanks Al and Fast. Al do you attribute your reduction in ET to your blending, or the change to a bigger carburetor??

If you've already got the 440-2, everything I've read mentions after porting that is a great intake, and better than the discontinued 440-3 with the dominator pattern. The 440-2 with a 4150-4500 spacer is arguably as good as the 440-3x.

Im wondering , is the plenum and are the runners the same size as the larger dominator manifold. If the 4150 is smaller, I don’t understand from an airflow perspective why that manifold would be a better choice???

The 4150 and 4500 manifolds are the same casting. There have been variations in castings through the years. They are just machined for the different carb sizes. The 440 X manifold is a different casting.

Low deck versions but you can see they are the same intake. Bolt holes would need filled on the 4150 before you re drilled for a 4500 as they slightly overlap. I backed to backed these on my 512, the 4150 with a 4500 adaptor was slightly faster and had better distribution. I did run a 2” spacer on the 4500 as well to even the plenum volume. I’ve also been told by numerous people the 4150 works better before I even tried it.
