Replace the cam and lifters Then pull those mds solenoids out and use mopars mds plugs to defeat mds The cam will need to have a limiter installed in the vvt inspired timing set
Hit me up as I sell these kits

I just talked to him and the mechanic who diagnosed it doesn't really know late Hemi's so I am going to get possession of it in a few weeks and look it over. I will probably just go back with Cam & Lifters if the damage isn't into the block/head and buy him a few more years. Gotta get my hands on it first. Thanks

Cam and Lifters are usually a fix and no need to replace heads and usually no metal shavings damage. HotRodDave is an expert on these IMO and probably will chime up.
Facts are stubborn things.

Don't the heads have to come off to replace the lifters? I've never turned a wrench on a late model hemi, but I understand they are like the GM LS engines in that regard.

Changed one in a 4wd Durago. Heads have to come off. The pan needs to be dropped to remove the oil pump to access the timing gear. I took the heads off with the manifolds attached. Pay attention to the cam install. The chain and gers line up differently than any normal engine. The aftermarket lifters we used were noisy. Doug Did you pull the engine or do it in car? Thanks

Thanks It probably depends on the vehicle, but it would probably be easier if you pulled the engine to do it. I just did a head swap on a 2004 Durango with a 5.7 Hemi, it was a royal pain since over half the engine is under the cowl. I had thought about a cam swap, but it definitely requires pulling the engine. On that era Durango they recommend taking the body off to do an engine swap because it's easier. I did an engine swap on that one about 4 years ago, I did it with removing the body but it was a major pain to do.
Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

Thanks It was done in the car. removed the bolts to let the pan drop. Take the intake off first to gain better access to the exhaust pipe to manifold bolts. Take the manifolds off still attached to the heads.I have also swapped an enine in one. When swapping the engine it's way easier with a Durago to remove the body if you have a hoist. Doug
