Hello guys. Got a question. How the heck does the emergency brake handle come off. Just the handle itself. It's a 69 A body and my handle is busted. Would like to replace it but can't get the old one off. Thanks.

Don't those have a roll pin that goes thru the T handle thru the steel shaft? Roll pins come out with a small punch and a hammer.

Make sure the punch is not so big that it gets caught in the hole as the roll pin is being driven out. You can use a nail that is just slightly smaller than the poll pin OD to tap in thru I suppose.

I've done it pretty easily in car without having to remove the assembly with a roll pin remover like this.

There are some on ebay right now. Here's about the cheapest.

And here's the part number if you want to check other sources. EZ RED PPT13 Pin Remover

That looks interesting, but it only does 1 size?
Seems like it would be a better design if it had different size inserts?

Wouldn't work on the steering coupler?

Nope. It'll just do standard size roll pins.

not trying to be a D-ck but Roll pins come in many sizes and lengths. I agree with the different size insert idea. up beer

The specialized tool is well worth the money,
but it was inspired by
a large C clamp and
a standard pin punch

i also agree with the different size inserts idea.
also, when using a standard flat face punch instead of a roll pin punch, the flat nose punch used will be just a whisker smaller than the roll pin, causing the punch to insert itself into the pin, which results in untold aggravation while trying to remove said pin. however, learning "new words" and expressing them in the process, can be greatly "educational" to young minds if they are within earshot. biggrin
a couple different size roll pin punch sets are well worth the money spent, even if a guy only uses a few different ones over his lifetime.
