Sadly Tom Hemphill made a lot of the custom B1 pans but passed away last year.

Randy,
I got this one from another racer. It is new and never installed. My engine has the old style B1 "bent" valley plate that bolts to the heads on each side (and block at ends).
Check these dimensions, as I don't have any history on this valley plate.

Without Data, you’re just another guy with an opinion.

It's a tall deck plate. I made a few of them, one went on to a friend's engine, the other went on to Mike Gray's B1 Engine. Both engines were running new World blocks from memory.

I was looking to make some valve covers as well, but I have been slammed with work, and have had some health problems as well.

The one pictured was one was old stock and I sent it to Jim, as I thought he might be able to use it. I sent one to Al Alguire as well, but I don't know if it ever made it.

I have considered making them again in the New Year, but revising the design.

Not sure what I was thinking as I told the OP the number 8.75" was stuck in my head but dont quote me. Guess I got them confused with the Indy plates for thier heads.

Now about those billet valve covers smile

I don't know if that valley plate will work on a low deck, or raised block (RB) engine with B1 heads.

What I can say, it was too narrow to work on my engine. It is a RB 10.725" deck. I bought my heads from a guy that did some work to them and the chambers were 60cc, so I figure they were milled. I have no idea how much the intake face of the heads were milled. With the RB spacers the same guy gave me, the intake fit perfectly. With those RB spacers, the valley plate would be under the spacers and the bevel should have reached the head, but it was roughly 1/8" too narrow on EACH side. Although I measured the thickness of the RB spacers, I never wrote it down... I will try to get a number from the assembled engine after lunch.
What is the "as cast" B1 original chamber size (cc)?

Bottom line: I don't know how wide the valley plate is suppose to be.

I measured my RB spacers for the B1 intake, 0.75" thick.

I trimmed my intake gaskets to rest on the valley plate cork gaskets. Those valley side gaskets are from 1/16" cork gasket stock, and slightly compressed after tightening bolts.
