Getting ready to change my 440 over to EFI using the victor efi 29545 intake and throttle body. I currently have the msd 8546 distributor and the 6al-2 box. Will be controlling with a system similar to FAST but need to know what others have done to use this distributor and type box and control with the ecu. Msd wasn’t a lot of help. I believe I’ll have to lock out the distributor and get possibly a different rotor or something but has anyone else been able to control this distributor with an ecu and how? Thanks in advance!

If you are dead set on using that distributer than you will have to cut off 7 of the 8 reluctor tabs so that it has only 1 signal for the cam sync. You will then need a crank trigger at least. You would be better off getting a dual sync distributer for simplicity. If you don't care about Sequential fuel injection than you can use the distributer as-is but you give up some of the advantages of sequential EFI.
I have my 572 Hemi converted to fuel injection using a FAST XFI box and so happy I went in that direction. I used the MSD dual sync but that is configured to trigger off the leading edges and to make a long story short, needs a rotor phasing kit to make work because the relationship between the crank and cam phasing angle isn't right. A FAST dual sync would have been better option with the FAST XFI but it doesn't physically clear everything as well as the MSD unit.

Did you try the adjustable rotor with any luck to fix your issue?

Thanks for the input. We will definitely be going sequential for this. My friend is the brains on this not me though but he’s used to direct injection more these days and NOT mopar configurations. Was just wondering if I could alter what I had somehow to lesson the damage to my wallet. 😂

Did you try the adjustable rotor with any luck to fix your issue? The MSD dual sync with a phasing rotor kit will work with a FAST EFI. FYI - I had a custom un-terminated long harness made and hid the ECU above the glovebox. With the Shaker scoop you can't really tell its EFI. AG.

Looks like the msd dual sync is the way I’ll likely have to go. Do you or can you still use the 6al-2 with the dual sync distributor? Connector is significantly more pins. :-)
Awesome setup you have there!

Awesome setup you have there! Yes and as AndyF says, the ECM manages the crank and cam signals and it will control the 6AL box through the points input on the MSD box. That is what I'm doing. My 6AL box is mounted under the battery tray.... AG.

He's running a port injection manifold so would guess he's going to use port injection?
I would run sequential. I think it's even worth the time (for driveability) to set up an injection end angle table.

Yes it’ll be sequential. The engine is 10.8:1, comp 256/266@050 solid lift with trick flow 240 heads and pretty sure I bought one if Andy’s billet valley pans. I sure his software will have every table known to mankind. Hopefully we will get it all figured out. I guess it doesn’t matter how the distributor is installed if the ecu is firing it eh? Just so wires are correct. 😁

Put the engine at 50 degrees BTDC, line up the sensors and clamp down the distributor. Just follow the instructions and you'll be okay. You double check timing with a timing light and then rotate the distributor to get everything lined up and then you're ready to go.
