It's seen the light of day, there are pets involved: I see nothing but good things going on here. Keep up the good work.

It runs, although it has an intermittent miss / exhaust "pop" that needs to be figured out

Lots of loose ends to tie up, plus getting it to shop that can handle the front end alignment

Drove it briefly in front of my house... feels totally foreign now... just a big noisy bucket of bolts

Could be a bad plug wire, spark plug, or something along those lines.
Yep, these cars feel like buckets of bolts after you get used to driving new cars!

I prefer the term "primitive". grin

At least it doesn't have the 800 lbs. of sound deadening and wiring that the new cars have. I can put up with a little NVH to go fast.

I describe driving an old car as "connected to your surroundings", as opposed to insulated from everything. I still enjoy the visceral feeling of being connected to all the mechanical systems of the car and the road itself. It is nice to get in the new "comfy quiet couch car" when you have to commute back and forth, or have a specific destination.

I'm happy for you, Brad, it's been a long time coming, and the car looks great.

When I got back into the car in 2007(?) after it had sat since around 2000, it felt perfectly natural to be back in it. But with the additional years out of it, plus whatever other things ya wanna factor in (age, driving comfy cars, ???), it's... weird.

My first thought was "this isn't really a street car any longer, it's just a bracket car with license plates", which seems funny now cuz I never questioned it being a street car in the past.

Other fun(?) stuff
- need new carpet now cuz the new mechanical oil pressure gauge leaked like an old faucet and we didn't realize it until it had made a big-azz 10w40 puddle right in front of the passenger seat; tightening up the braided line connection at the gauge didn't help a dayum bit, either
- car sits funny when I look at it from the back; hoping the Caltrac springs haven't sagged while it's been sitting... or the torsion bars are all jacked up... I can't tell at the moment
- I'm sure there are other things I'll need to work out before it'll be ready to go back to the track

luck

It is exactly what it is, you'll always be the most harsh judge of your own work.

Congrats getting it running!
