Can someone point me to a comprehensive source for metering rods? I'm not sure Edelbrock makes the sizes I'm looking for.

.068/.059
.069/.054
.0715/.058

These are for AFBs. thx

before Edelbrock took over, CARTER used to make "strip kits" for those. I have most of 2 of those around here. Came with an assortment of metering rods, jets, and some oversized needle and seat assemblies. those kits show up at swaps now and then.

Edelbrock makes tuning kits too, you can even buy the rods separately if you want. Issue is, Edelbrock doesn't offer the sizes the OP wants, I looked.

I ran into a similar issue years ago when I was trying to fine tune the AFB carbs on the Road Runner. I got the closest size over that I could and would use some sandpaper folded over and twist the rods back and forth/ and up/down with my fingers. I would check frequently with some calipers to monitor the progress and it worked out good. It is a bit time consuming, but I would just sit back in a chair and watch some TV to pass the time.

In my stash of rods I have two of the .0715/.058 (#16-544) those are from a Carter strip kit. I also have one of the .069/.054 (16-7057) I have another but it was worked down to a .065/.054...

Are you setting up Hemi carbs?

.068/.059 Close to size 0.068/0.057 Edelbrock #1417, or old Carter #16-98 (0.068/0.056")

.069/.054 The Edelbrock rods jump from 0.068 to 0.070", I don't think they list a 0.069" size? a 0.070/0.057" is #1418, and 0.070/0.052" is 1452

.0715/.058 Old Carter 0.072/0.058 is number 16-544 ( I think it was in the strip kit) Edelbrock only has one rod in the 0.071" size, 0.047" rich size, #1453. next step leaner size jumps to 0.073", and with 0.052 rich is #1457

This is part of a spreadsheet I did back around 2010, so it might be outdated?
Dosen't show the formatting, but two tables of 4 rows, left side is rods sorted by the larger "Economy" step, second table by the smaller "Power" step of the rod

Sounds like you are working on a 68 Set of Hemi carbs. The front carb .0685x.059 is 16-341. The rear carb .069x.054 is 16-543 and .0715x.058 is 16-544. Only the 544 is a common rod found in the strip kit.

Hemi rods are more unique with the length of the step and type of taper, though in weeds if you can't get original ones.

Get a 201 strip kit, it has the 16-98 which is rich on power step at .0555 and it has the 544. Having your front carb rich on power shouldn't hurt anything with the 98.

The rod stagger in the rear is a distribution issue supposedly for low speed mixture. Though I would think it effects high speed too. If you're going with a cam and raised compression of displacement, you will need to fine tune anyway.
