these are the clips that hold the stainless trim on top of the door up against the glass on a 72 scamp.
The clips have some kind of material in it to keep the water out.the newer ones(pictured on right) are from r/t specialties and don't have it nor do they fit properly.they are a slightly different shape.

anyone know where to get these like the ones on the left?
I have also tried mr. g's and can't find them.

I need some too. They are the same as for the belt line moldings on my 69 Cuda. The stuff inside them disintegrates pretty easily when you remove the clips plus I am missing some.

Michael, they look correct and yeah they are specific to that "belt line trim" application. In 2005 R/T Specialties pointed out the differences on that particular clip from others. I had to find used clips at swap meets that were left on that trim to finish my belt line trim. They are angled and the part that slides into the trim is an odd size and shape . Michael do you have those clips new

Thanks,

Mike

I got all excited and west you're right they are different. I know if they are not exact the trim will sit either too close to the glass or too far to the outside and on top of that the trim will be loose. See the way the top of the clip is more heart shaped than the other clips, that's the part that positions it on the narrow top edge of the door and quarter (glass) area. They are hard to find even used for some reason

any ideas on how to recreate the material on the old clips?
it keeps the water out but is also needed to fit the trim tightly or it will wobble.

After looking at the pictures closer, your original clip looks wider than the one I posted. My clip is from the 70-71 Cuda SS tail trim, it was originally used on the bottom leg of the end "C" pieces.

What is the over all width of the original and any other dimension you can get? I'm at home now and don't have access to the clip, I can check the difference in the morning.

Try a place called "Mill Supply" they are out of Cleveland, Ohio. They sell step van parts but also sell restoration stuff as well. I think if you google them, you should have no problem finding them.

well I'm convinced these clips do not exist in new condition.
any ideas on how to restore my old clips to keep the water out of the holes?
thanks for the help.
