Has anyone tried to add a pin to the Melling B/RB intermediate shaft (like the old MP one's had)? How did it go?
Or is this a total waste of time? I'll be running a high-volume pump.
Sorry if this has been covered. I searched the forum and didn't find anything.

If you shear a pin, no oil pressure, distributor stops turning, engine dies. Assuming the gear continues to turn on the shaft.

If you break the hex off, engine runs but you lose oil pressure.

I think the pin was insurance in case the press fit between the gear and shaft was on the low side.
