Sad to hear this. He was a very nice gentleman and proud promoter of drag racing and wheel standers.

Bob was a great guy. First met him at the Topeka show about 20 years ago. Talked to him again a few times at Vegas and he bought a 37 Plymouth from a friend there.

RIP Bob. angel

A great gentleman, very humble and kind. I met him at Milan Dragway back in the early 90's, where he was doing
exhibition runs, in his Hemi under Glass Barracuda. I got his autograph on a poster of his car
(which is still on my garage wall)... He was very nice and happy to talk Mopar's.
Rest in peace Bob. angel

Met him and also Maverick (Bill Golden) at one of the big shows, want to say the Mopar Nationals but it could have been a different one....... decades ago.

Can't remember what he said, but he shook hands, had a big smile and said something funny at the time.

I'd driven my '68 Charger to the show that year and was beginning the immersion process.

Times like I'll probably never see again.

RIP

Probably 25 yrs ago we went to Norwalks Night of Fire and Baders had just resurfaced the track a week or so before so there was a lot of oil coming up to the surface, nobody was getting a hold of the track but Bob was going to put on a show no matter what it took, I bet he tried 10 times to get the front end up and it would just spin, he finally got it to come up decent he went out about 250ft and it broke traction on the right side and it came down up against the wall and scrubbed it hard down the left side end of show.
There was a funny story I read somewhere about some of the things Bill Bader did to attract spectators, some worked and some didn’t. Doug

RIP Bob

Sorry honey I spent the rent

Here are some of my HUG stories. RIP Mr. Riggle. I have been on the road since I heard the news, another legend gone. Had a great time hauling the HUG's around and helping out at several runs. I will miss his stories. One year at the Mopar Spring Fling we were getting ready to head out for the night when we went to the lobby of the Airtel and he was there trading stories with Doug Thorley and we ended up staying there all night and listening intently. I will miss those times, and hanging out with Bob and Linda Vaughn at several shows and hearing their banter too! You can see the smile on my face with just the privilege of sitting behind the wheel of the 68 HUG getting it ready for a run...

Bob getting ready for a run. I will have to dig up some more pics, wish I would have taken more, but the memories I have are still vivid and will last my lifetime...

We did a pass down the Beech Bend dragstrip at the Moparty on Saturday in memoriam. All we could do was idle it down the strip as the NHRA no longer allows wheelstanders at NHRA tracks. mad It all came together quickly, thanks to Joe Spagnoli who owns the 69 car for bringing it out and letting me have one more fling with the HUG! up

You should probably fact check that statement since the NHRA had a wheelstander making passes at the Maple Grove national event this weekend.

I got that from a credible source. Which one was at Maple Grove?
