All I am trying to figure out is what to carry for 'value' on my old cars. I thought I was OK with the numbers I was using ($17K for the '67 and $20K for the '66) but after watching what total garbage is selling for, I am beginning to wonder. I'm changing insurance companies, so I need to give them a value.
'67 is a Fastback, 273 Commando, Auto on column, Blue on Blue, small rear end. 56K Miles (Its legit...I've had it for 42 years). I'll dig for some pics, but it was painted 42 years ago and it held up good (I guess when they sit in a barn under a cover not much happens to them). Had only very small patch panels on lower quarters 42 years ago and nothing ever came back out. Runs great, just finishing getting it back on the road after sitting for too long.
'66 is a Coronet wagon, 361 auto, red interior, white exterior, 9-passenger. Zero rust ever car. I bought from original owners estate. 90% of the paint is original and still in great shape, interior is also great. The only thing I had to have redone was drivers seat. I did disc brake conversion when I got it. Has new Torque Thrusts on it now (had to upsize from the 14" with the brakes)
I have to figure out how to downsize my pics to even put them here.
Just trying to get values to toss to the insurance agent tomorrow that are realistic.

Thanks for the thoughts. I think I will bump both of them up some.

$20,000 minimum. Better off above that at $25-35k. We used to have a hard time even getting decent insurance on these cars. If you get totaled by some dipshit in a Kia, you'll have a hard time finding a good replacement for either one of your rides for less than $20kl I would certainly agree with that...especially the "dipshit in a Kia" part...

I'd be inclined to insure each one for at least $25-$30K, not knowing much about them. If you have a collector car policy, a few grand more doesn't cost much per year. If you're going through a "regular" agent/policy, be VERY clear on it being stated value and not open to interpretation/adjustment. Paging not-a-charger.... Actually, you want agreed value. Stated value could get you in trouble, as it is open to interpretation/adjustment.

Just wrote my policy with Hagerty yesterday. Bumped the '67 to $20K and the '66 to $24K. I also have a '99 Celica GT convert. They told me to bump that one up quite a bit as well. I guess I need to keep track more of values. I put my '23 Widebody Hellcat with them as well. Could not touch reasonable insurance locally. They kept telling me "its a High-Performance Car". I kept telling them that it was driven by a "low performance guy". Did not matter.

People need to keep in mind that Insurance companies are in the business of selling insurance. Many people try to buy the highest amount possible. That really only makes sense if you’re planning to wreck your car.
Think about that. Its not ME I have to worry about. And as long as Hagerty will agree to value I want. Im going to get the most on it I can, within reason.

Think about that. Or having it “stolen”
It really doesn't matter whether you win or lose… as long as you look good doing it!
