OK, as pretty as GY3's red car is here, it makes me cringe from a safety aspect, as many others do, for not having any head rest or neck restraint, either by the seat or the roll bar/cage.
I'm with Helmuth Hübener, and no soup is being served today.

An NHRA roll bar tech inspector told me that there’s two cage in my car, the cage AND the body. One compliments the other. A roll bar is for roll overs, if you want it strong put in a cage bumper to bumper. A roll bar with down bars and side bars does not help the front of car (engine-trans) where most of the weight-flexing is. Leave the bars out and go have fun or wear a helmet each time you drive it (head hitting those bars on crash) if the front has the most weight flexing, would a couple of bars from the cowl area to the front of the front rails help, even if there is no roll bar installed ? Does that car still have the stock inner fender wells up front? If so, I don't think adding snout bars will help it Like this

This is an old pic of the drivers side (2012?), it started off as a 1 3/4" roll bar but just got added to until it was 8.50 legal and then we added more tubes. The front is tied, you can see a tube going forward, it goes through the bulkhead where it's plated / welded and goes forward under the fender to where the motorplate is mounted on the front frame rail. Rearward it is X'd to rear where the rails step up and two bars go through to the trunk where they are welded to the frame rails. The vast majority of the tubes are 1 3/4" cds and it contributes to the cars 4000lb + weight, that having been said the car is definitely rigid, we've come down hard a few times from big wheelstands and the damage could have been a lot worse. You can't use the rear seat and the top half of it isn't even in there. Next time, I'm having a Chrome moly cage done. No swing out bars, I don't need them now the steering wheel is removable.

I like how the door bars are put in, but still retains the swing out any pictures of the underside fender bars?

I probably should have done mine on the outside as the inner fender aprons also. It still works for me on the inside of them. Even with a HEMI. I can still remove the valve covers. The snout bars also tie into them and are use for my front plate.

Thanks what size front tire you run?Any clearance issues? We've had a 29" tall M/T front runner on there. 27. 5 on now. Plenty of room when turning the tyre, never ran it with a wide street tyre pretty sure a 225 would be OK.

That looks exactly like my 1966 Dart has, It the cage and chassis, was made by Forest Fincher to cert to SFI specs for 7.50 ET in the 1/4 mile I'm going to have him mount the motor, the tranny mount and make the headers as well as the wheelie bars so the stock inner fender wells may go away completely

Removable shoulder bar is not NHRA legal. That being said if it had padding No one will ever check it. My kids climbed over it (8 poont) for years. Even had friends climb over it at Mopar Nats more than once to cruise. I was in the back seat cleaning the other day. Not that big a deal. Of course I'm still young at 68 Doug Having been in the back seat of DVW's car I can attest that climbing over or under a roll bar is possible. I was in my teens when I was riding in that car but was 6'2 and 220 pounds. My Dart has a cage in it and I fully intend on street driving and putting the kids in the back seat. Adding a bar is a safety item, why would you want to do something to jeopardize the safety a bar adds just to make ingress/egress a bit easier? Just my 2 cents Grossey

Excuse the junk in the back seat, but my bar has a diagonal behind the driver with just a short horizontal bar for the belts behind the driver. If need to use the back seat, it can be accessed from the passenger side. Saves me getting out. 😁 That don't look bad and you kept your rear seat. God knows there isn't enough room in the truck to store stuff, so being able to put/remove stuff pretty easily is a good idea.

Last time anyone was in the backseat was when I took the daughter & 2 of her bimbo mates to the school ball. Skinny ppl can squeeze in, but tbh there's no room in the back of a 'cuda.

It's interesting how there appears to be two totally disconnected trains of thought here, those that think say the question is if a skinny offspring can wiggle into a space in a caged cars back seat for a ride, and those that prefer not to cry at the ER not knowing the final outcome of knowing if a child will recover from a shattered skull while riding in the back seat of a caged street car involved in a minor low speed accident. I'm passing no judgement. just an observation.
I'm with Helmuth Hübener, and no soup is being served today.

My friend was killed, driving his car on the street. It had an 8.50 cage, and had a "helmet" bar . He got T boned making a turn and hit his head on the bar. He died a few days after the accident in the hospital. Please if you have a cage, make sure it has padding , and even better wear a bicycle helmet at the minimum when riding in the car on the street. ANY accident with no helmet will be very bad. ANY one riding in the back seat of a car with a roll cage/bar will definitely get hurt without head protection. Keep that in mind please
