Hello All:
I am installing a 3 quart Accusump into a 1977 Roadrunner with a 440.
My original thought is to tuck it onto the area where the battery originally was. Will need to be at a compound angle, and attach with a mounting plate Going to be tight and may have issues with plumbing into the oil filter inlet adaptor.
Canton suggested possibly in the trunk, but that seems too far away to react quickly. I have see one in the passenger foot area inside the car, but i don't think that will pass tech.
Other areas I am looking at is mounted vertically in front of the radiator core support, or horizontally behind the front bumper.
Does anyone have some other place that they have mounted and Accusump?
Thank you, John

I had mine mounted right behind my shifter. Manual ball valve. NHRA chassis inspector didn’t like it, but said there were no rules against it. He said we let nitrous bottles and mechanical oil pressure gauges in the car, and thought that wasn’t a god idea either. As far as distance… there is no difference in reaction. fluids don’t compress, so as long as there is oil in the line it will react immediately.

Thank you for the ideas. I have looked in the fenderwells, and not enough room left as the frond strut bar passes through. The apron on an "F" body does not leave enough room either. Already tight with the 440 and 2" primary headers.
Still thinking about inside the car. I may take a trip down to Byron and talk to the Tech guy about it and areas inside, and also in front of the core support. The attached picture got me looking in this area.
Thahnk you again, John

I have a 3 quart Canton brand I haven't used yet so I will probably end up mounting it as close as I can to the oil pump. I'm going to plumb it into the line from the remote mounted oil filter going to the block and use a T union fitting and use an electric switch to control it I'll probably end up using a switch that turns that switch on from the ignition circuit in case I forget to use it before starting the motor up

Here is my mock-up behind the driver's seat, understand, my oil cooler and remote oil/screen/filter are in trunk. Note it has a manual shut off I can reach in addition to a solenoid valve and an inline one-way check valve, so as not to back feed into the remote filter. The other lines are for trunk mounted tranny and diff coolers and temp senders.
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

kinda off topic but has anyone used a FOA oil accumulator? https://f-o-a.com/shop/foa-oil-accumulator/They are around for several years now and what I like about them (besides the low price of only $150) is that they come with an integrated electronic shut-off valve. No pressure gauge though.

One thing to consider. You should mount it somewhere that is fairly easy to access so it can be removed and cleaned during oil changes. I pull my Moroso off and clean it every change.

Thanks guys - great discussion.
For now I am going to mount the solenoid valve near the oil filter area. I have a Canton control valve which is a little pricey, but has a mounting pattern in the end, and a port for the pressure sensor in the valve body. Don't need a tee for the pressure switch. Less fittings, lees places to leak.
It will give me time to find a place the the Accusump, and then just need to run the line to the valve inlet.
Plum Bad. I will look at the firewall when the engine is back in the car as a possibility.
Thanks again - John

Doesn't say how much it holds. 3" x 18" body ... what would that hold ?? volume is 2085cc = 2.2 quarts calculated by the outside dimensions so in reality a little bit less and you also have to take into account that the accumulator cannot be 100% full as there will be compressed air inside as well. So I guess 2 quarts is the real value.

An area of "real estate", if you will, is the front wheelhouse either for or aft of the wheel & tire. I mounted a remote oil filter aft of the RF tire, at the side of the cowl, on my SB Duster (sig pic) racecar. It had no splash shields, and 1 fenderwell header tube, ran the #10 hoses (fire-sleeved) through there to fittings @ the filter area (SBs having that on the RR of the block). No stone damage in 25 years, but it was never on the street. There's plenty of room forward of the tires, too, though you'd want the thing accessible.
Good tip from DGS: there are quite a few parts that go from generic to "race" courtesy of a decal... and huge markup.
