I have a friend with an unknown internals engine he bought and is having carb troubles old leaky 3310, bogs, stalls occasionally runs great....

What we do know about it is W2 heads, 360 LA block, street dominator intake, 1 /3/4 long tubes, 4 speed, it feels like it wants to pull to close to 7000 RPM big lope in the cam, 4 speed, compression real close to 140 on all 8 cylinders...

What we don't know is actual compression ratio, previous owner said it was "maxed out" but no record of how much if any head work, cam specs, bore, stroke...

He just wants to buy a new carb and see if we can get it running better without tearing it apart and measuring every thing or farting around with the old carb that who knows what has been done to over the years, it is not a race car really but he wants it to run better. I was leaning towards a 950 ultra HP XP something or a brawler... he said he don't really care if it has a choke as it never driven in the cold. What would be a good off the shelf carb to take a guess on and hopefully need minimal tuning, probably 4 corner idle adjustment and maybe jet changes?

I am not causing global warming, I am just trying to hold off a impending Ice Age!

My vote would be a race Brawler......... a few steps smaller than 950.

I bought and used on of the first List # 80496, it worked great out of the box on a 440 stock stroke motorboogie scope

My vote is to give Dom a call at Thumpercarbs. Look him up on facebook. My guess would be one of his Billet 750's. He has many fast cars going faster.

Perhaps someone can explain to him what a choke does?

I know you’re asking about a replacement carb, but, I would fix the 3310. I ran 10.30’s, dead consistently with my 388”. 80496 was .1 faster, and also a great out of the box unit.
