I think they are out near Desert Center. A bunch of them did Air BNB in the indio/palm desert area IIRC.
Looks like they painted up the airstrip by the chuckwalla raceway. I don't recall any roads out that way that are 4 lanes, not to mention the lanes they are racing on are VERY wide.

I don't think so, it is too flat where their racing to be between Indio and Blythe. Big hills on the south side of I-10 between Indio and Blythe and a lot of little ones on the north side of I-10 Were in the heck is Chuckwalla airstrip? I thought I knew were all the small and large airports are from L.A. to the Colorado River down to Mexico by flying into a lot of them

I look up that airport, it is northeast of Desert Center on the county road to Rice and Vidal Junction, CA and then onto Parker AZ and it is very small and narrow privately own airport located at the bottom of the grade with hills very close to it. I lived in Desert Center back in the days when my Mother and Father were going through their divorce, it (Desert Center) hasn't change very much since the mid 1950 when my grandfather was station their working for CA Department of Highways long before it became Cal Trans. I know that area well, there is a whole lot of nothing out their but greasewood bushes, sand, rock mountains and hills and desert critters that you don't want them to bite or sting you I ended up living in the Victor Valley from 1970 to 2005 before we moved up here to Bend, OR. I've driven and flown over most of SO CA from Sacramento south and from the coast to the Colorado river, the background shots they were showing on T.V tonight show reminded me of the Palmdale, Lancaster area in the Antelope Valley due to the flatness and the business and housing lights in the distance away from where they are racing, the high radio tower in background with the aviation flashing red warning light makes me think it t is near Palmdale, CA

Like J said there is a racetrack at Chuckwalla.....Been in operation for a few years and they have made steady but small improvements along the way. Just in the middle of nowhere for sure.

When we lived in Desert Center the owner of that airstrips wife was the Post Master in Desert Center, theirs was only one house on that property back then, nearest house to them was back near Desert Center. I saw my first Sidewinder in the desert near Desert Center and my first desert tortoise. I experience several other first their We moved to Blythe in the summer of 1958 and I started eight grade their and went to school up to the fall semester of my junior year in 1961 when we moved the 29 Palms. I hated changing schools, did it way too many times I was really proud that I was able to keep my kids in the same Christain school in Hesperia, CA from kindergarten to 12 th. grade when my daughter graduated from it, my Son ask to transfer to the public school in his junior year after seeing the first Top Gun Movie that made him want to go to junior R.O.T.C that the public high School offered, he join the navy reserve on his 17th birthday and went from high school one week after graduating from high school to Navy Boot camp at Great Lakes Naval training center. He had qualified for Officer Canidate School when he took the initial ASFAB testing and was planning on attend O.C.S. after getting his A.A. or A.S degree at the local junior college to qualify for OCS, but President Goerge Herbert Walker Bush change that requirement to needing a B.S.or a B.A.to go to OCS in 1989 and he ended up not wanting to go to a four year college to get one those degrees so that plan went kaput

and Desert Center is probably the picture in the dictionary for the middle of nowhere. When you are in "no where", the best place to be is right in the middle.
